Koch’s story with Hidden Valley began in 2007, not in the boardroom, but on the slopes. He first volunteered as a patroller, drawn to the camaraderie and commitment to safety. His talent and leadership potential were quickly recognized, and in 2013, he became the paid patrol manager.

Over the next decade, Koch’s career at Hidden Valley blossomed. He held various roles, from sales and marketing to events and group sales, each time demonstrating his strategic thinking and ability to connect with the resort’s community. In 2020, he returned to his mountain roots, leading the ski patrol, terrain parks, and lift operations, and managing major on-hill projects.

Now, after years of experience across every facet of the resort, Koch takes on the ultimate challenge: steering Hidden Valley as its General Manager. “DJ brings a unique perspective to this role,” said Vail Resorts VP of the Midwest Region Tim Harris. “His deep knowledge of the mountain, combined with his leadership skills and passion for the industry, make him the perfect person to guide Hidden Valley into the future.”
