Fire Closes Nordic Valley Until Further Notice

At approximately 1:50AM this morning, a fire was detected in Nordic Valley’s main lodge. Local authorities were alerted right away and Weber County fire engines arrived onsite to extinguish the fire. There were no reported injuries at the scene and the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Unfortunately, the entire lodge was damaged including our ticket office, retail store, restaurant and business offices. A silver lining in this difficult story is the surrounding structures and all lifts appear to be unaffected.

They say:

Due to these unforeseen circumstances Nordic Valley will be closed until we can get power and our systems up and running again. We are working hard to make the necessary pivots to allow us to resume operations.

Stay tuned for more updates – as information becomes available, we will update this page. Any guests who have purchased tickets, lessons or rentals for dates during the closure will be issued a credit (see below for details).

When will Nordic Valley re-open?
Nordic Valley is working tirelessly to get our resort running again. All operations announcements will be made on our website, social media and newsletter – we encourage you to follow us there for the latest updates.

What caused the fire?
We do not know at this time – this is under investigation.

What do I do for products (lift tickets, rentals & lessons) I purchased during the resort closure?
Any products purchased for visits from Monday, January 15, through our resort closure will be issued a credit to be used at a later date. We will do this automatically, and we will communicate with you via email. Please allow us a few days to process your credit.

How can I get in touch with someone?
We are monitoring and responding to messages sent to info@nordicvalley.ski and we are waiting to set up a new phone number. Please be patient as we work through these details.

Will you be refunding season pass holders?
At this time, we are not issuing refunds on season passes. We will continue to assess this as we finalize our reopening plan. In the meantime, we encourage our Power Pass guests to visit nearby Power Pass mountains, including Brian Head Resort, Purgatory Resort and Arizona Snowbowl. For a full list of Power Pass benefits, click here.

Will you allow season pass holders to access the mountain while you wait for your operations to be restored?
Not at this time. Our first priority is to ensure the safety of all employees and guests, and we will not be running the lifts until we know we can operate safely. In the meantime, we are working on our new operating plan so we can get the lifts running as quickly as possible.

Is uphill travel allowed? Where can we park?
At this time, uphill travel is highly discouraged while authorities do their investigation and we mitigate the safety of the barn. The Weber County Sheriff’s department closed the road so parking in our lots is unavailable at this time. We will open this as quickly as we can and communicate it on our website, social media and newsletters.

Why can’t we operate given the lifts are okay?
Our first priority is to ensure our employees and guests safety. While our lifts have been unaffected, many other critical operations (and necessities, like bathrooms) were impacted severely. Please know that we are actively working on solutions that will allow us to reopen as quickly as we can.

What can we do to help?
We’ve been overwhelmed already by the outreach from those who love Nordic Valley. First of all, thank you. Your kindness and support has been a balm on what has been a very difficult day. Please stay tuned for more ways to help in the future.
