Vialattea Highlights Spring Skiing

Skiers looking for reliable snow as they take to the slopes this Easter should look no further than the Italian-French ski area of Vialattea. With recent upgrades to the state-of-the-art snowmaking system, and 80% of slopes above 1,900m, Vialattea promises spring skiers perfect late-season snow conditions and excellent value for money.

With 80% of the slopes in the Vialattea ski area are above 1,900m, and 70% above 2,000m, visitors can expect snow-sure skiing through to the end of the season on April 7th. The 2023/24 season saw the introduction of upgraded snowmaking systems, with 117 new snow generators and 7,650 metres of renewed ski slopes - further cementing the snow reliability in the area to allow for an extended operating period.

Located in Piedmont, on the border of Italy and France, Vialattea comprises 8 ski resorts, including Sestriere, Sauze d’Oulx, Sansicario, Cesana, Claviere, Oulx, Pragelato and the French Montgenèvre. Offering 400km of skiable area spread over 250 slopes, the ski area is connected by a network of 70 lifts, all accessible on one ski pass. Sestriere – the highest of Vialattea’s resorts at 2,035m, ascending to the Sises and Motta peaks at 2,600 and 2,800m – was the location for majority of the upgrades, making it the perfect location for a last-minute late season getaway to the Alps. The resort offers the convenience of ski-in/ski-out accommodation and a plethora of restaurants, in addition to activities for non-skiers, including Husky sledding tours

The warmer spring weather is perfectly suited to beginners and younger skiers, making it a great option for families. Experienced skiers are also well catered to, as the longer days and allow the more seasoned skiers in the group to maximise their time on the slopes, promising the ultimate ski experience for the whole family.

The race brings together Italian and international ski clubs in a full day of competition and festivities, with over 5,000 people descending on Sestriere over the weekend, bringing an end of season party atmosphere to the area providing guaranteed fun for all.
