Mt. Hood Meadows' Provide To Ride Event Collects Over 5,400 Pounds Of Food & $19k For FISH Food Bank

Despite getting rescheduled twice due to conditions and facing a forecast that initially called for rain, guests showed up in a big way once again for Mt. Hood Meadows' annual Provide to Ride Event on Tuesday, which helped raise food donations and money for Hood River's FISH Food Bank.

Mt. Hood Meadows offered a free lift ticket to anyone who showed up to the resort Tuesday morning with 24 cans of food or two hams to donate; alternatively, guests could purchase a special $40 lift ticket good for the entire day, of which $35 was donated to FISH. By the end of the day, guests had donated 5,482 pounds of food, and Meadows donated $19,950 in proceeds from that day's lift ticket sales.

“We are amazed at the kindness and generosity of Mt. Hood Meadows, their employees, and guests for their help supporting our food-insecure friends and neighbors,” said Jacqueline Carey, Executive Director of FISH Food Bank. “The proceeds from Provide To Ride will help feed the 600 families we serve each month at FISH. We are so appreciative.”

In an added bonus, the forecasted rain held off and guests enjoyed spring-like conditions and lots of open terrain at Meadows. The mountain was open from top to bottom, with the exception of Heather Canyon and Private Reserve.

“We continue to be blown away by the generosity that our guests show during this event," said Greg Pack, President and General Manager of Mt. Hood Meadows. “It's always a great atmosphere at the resort during Provide to Ride and we look forward to holding this event again next season.”
