Kempinski Hotels Plan A Ski Resort In Romania’s Carpathian Mountains.

A contemporary ski resort in the town of Poiana Brasov should open in 2026 and will be the first five-star hotel in the Transylvania region.

Nestled in the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains, Poiana Brasov is a fairy tale brought to life. The understated ski resort will be home to the first Kempinski hotel in Romania, bringing our signature European elegance to the Transylvanian Alps.

Thick spruce forests criss-crossed with hiking and biking trails blanket the surrounding hillsides, a playground for active visitors in the summer months. When winter falls, 24 km of uncrowded slopes lure skiers and snowboarders.

Behind a contemporary façade, this elegant hideaway promises a minimal, naturalistic aesthetic, with flowing organic lines, natural materials and interiors that reflect the forest and highland landscape.

Romania’s cultural heritage is celebrated in three dining outlets, while the healing powers of the mountain environment are channelled through immersive wellbeing experiences in the spa and wellness centre.

A collection of 120 lakeside rooms and suites in the main hotel will be supported by extensive spa and wellness facilities along with three dining outlets showcasing the flavours of the Romanian and international cuisine.
The mountains of Eastern Europe are known to be some of the most spectacular and Poiana Brasov is a gateway to a range of outdoor activities.

During the summer, well-marked trails between spruce forests and mountain meadows blanketed in wildflowers draw hikers, cyclists and horse riders, while the snowy peaks attract skiers and snowboarders from across Europe each winter.

Guests at Kempinski Poiana Brasov mountain resort will have direct access to almost 24 kilometres of ski slopes on the flanks of the Postăvarul Massif.

The nearby medieval city of Brasov has gothic churches, cobbled streets and baroque townhouses that evoke the essence of Transylvania.

Guests can also get to other Romanian attractions including Bran Castle, of Count Dracula fame, Peles Castle and Rasnov Fortress. Direct flights from cities including those from Dubai, London, Brussels, Barcelona, Munich, Stuttgart, and Geneva serve the new Brasov-Ghimbav International Airport.

Created in 1897, Kempinski Hotels is Europe’s oldest luxury hotel group, with 82 hotels and residences in 35 countries and 26 prestigious projects under development.

Romania is located in southeastern Europe, with its capital and largest city Bucharest.

Romania is also known for its rich history, dramatic scenery one-third mountainous with one-third forested, and the remainder made up of hills and plains, and a coastline on the Black Sea.

The Carpathian Mountains within the borders of modern Romania are home to one of the largest undisturbed forests in Europe.

The Carpathians are known for their outstanding natural beauty and diverse wildlife, including over 400 unique species of mammals.
