Helly Hansen Introduces Its Lightest Performance Down Jacket To Autumn ’24 Odin Collection
Helly Hansen has worked closely alongside professionals, drawing on their wealth of knowledge and experience outdoors to develop purpose-built, high-performance gear. For Autumn ’24, the needs of mountain professionals, including search and rescue teams and guides from brand partner Mountain Madness, ignited the brand’s innovative spirit to launch its lightest-weight performance down jacket to date. The new Odin Everdown Hooded Jacket is optimised for days in the mountains when temperatures are low, but psych is high.
As a direct response to the ask for a lightweight down jacket in the Odin collection, Helly Hansen’s designers searched for a solution to the concerns of professionals around current offerings. By pairing a 10-denier ripstop face fabric made from 100% recycled nylon with THINDOWN, the first real down fabric, the new Odin Everdown Hooded Jacket feels lightweight – 325g for men’s large, 275g for women’s medium – while delivering heavyweight warmth. The uniform structure of this innovative insulation creates a continuous and even distribution of goose down, removing the need for horizontal stitching which often leads to cool air passing through to the body where heat is desired. In addition, should any tears of the face fabric occur, there will be no leak or loss of feathers. Strategic placement of the insulation within the body and the hood enables unrestricted movement and temperature regulation, while PFC-free DWR treatment on the exterior provides a layer of weather protection.
Further input from SAR teams and Mountain Madness ensured no detail was overlooked or excessive. The new jacket offers a minimalist design by using elastic at the hood, hem, and cuffs to add to heat retention, zipper-free hand pockets allow speedy hand warming and less weight, and a RECCO reflector ensures added safety and searchability. When temperatures plummet, this new jacket brings all the necessary features, required, and requested by professionals, to perform during alpine endeavours.
“Developing solutions for the professionals we work with is what continues to inspire and drive our design team,” said Sofia Jonsson, Category Manager for Outdoor at Helly Hansen. “Our reliance on feedback and test sessions with people who spend most of their time in the mountains builds trust that we will provide what they need to stay and feel alive when they’re outdoors.”
The Odin Everdown Hooded Jacket will be available in men’s and women’s specific styles both in-store and online starting in Autumn 2024. To learn more about Helly Hansen’s work with outdoor professionals, please visit www.hellyhansen.com/en_gb.
