Wintersport-Arena Sauerland Now Relies On HVO

In order to protect the climate and conserve resources, the operators of the Winterberg ski lift carousel will be using HVO to operate their snow groomers. This had been planned for some time, but failed due to the availability of this "biodiesel". The use of this environmentally friendly new fuel saves up to 90 percent CO2 compared to conventional diesel, meaning that the snow groomers can be operated in an almost climate-neutral way.

This is also important: it is not the much-criticized snowmaking that requires the most energy in the ski areas. The daily, careful grooming of the slopes is actually more energy-intensive. Other ski areas are considering joining this campaign. This is another step towards the planned climate neutrality of winter sports in the region by 2030.
