Below, please find an overview of the top three hotels run by LAAX and the travellers they cater to.
Best for wellbeing - signinahotel
Located very close to the LAAX gondola station, the signinahotel with its chalet-style character is ideal for those seeking a relaxed and cosy alpine getaway. With renovations complete, the new interiors combine bold pop-art designs with traditional warm wooden elements. Plus, with the additions of a private dining space and a small Kids Freestyle Academy, this classic Swiss hotel is the perfect place for the whole family to wind down after a day out on the mountain.
From a spacious wellness centre complete with a 12.5-metre-long pool to a fully equipped gym, sauna and expansive spa, signinahotel is very well equipped to cater to guests pampering needs. Whether it’s a classic Signina home massage, hot stone bodywork, or even a chocolate, on returning from the slopes there is plenty of offer for guests to take advantage of.
And with free evening childcare from 5 pm onward, this resort is also ideal for parents seeking some much-needed rest and relaxation for a few hours away from the kids.
Best for a buzz – Riders Hotel
The snowboarder’s paradise, Riders Hotel, is known across the Alps as the go-to place for like-minded creatives to come together. From boarders with an eye for style to those looking for a stylish place to hang out after a busy day on the slopes, Riders Hotel offers the perfect blend of chilled-out vibes and contemporary energy. Bringing a modern ‘edge’ to the slopes, the hotel has hosted tattoo pop ups in the past, has an on-site shop selling Vans and brands of local artists and athletes and even has an art space where photo and art exhibitions of artists who also love snowboarding are hosted regularly.
Riders Hotel is also home to the only fully vegan-vegetarian restaurant in the whole resort. The chefs at Riders Restaurant use regional produce to create new three and five-course menus each week to match the season. While this will be sure to encourage the foodies, the hotel is also a great meeting place for culture lovers; with concerts, locally sourced art exhibitions, and parties hosted regularly throughout the seasons.
While the hotel is brimming with activities, guests can also rest easy knowing Riders is leading the charge in sustainability across LAAX. Riders’ green roof is the first to trial cutting-edge vertical solar panels that produce 25,000 kWh in solar energy each year, and even produce energy when snow lies on the roof. The hotel is covered by 100% renewable energy, 10% of which is obtained by its solar panels, whereas the other 90% is from renewable energy from Switzerland. Riders also only uses sustainable products, whether it be ecological detergents, locally sourced vegetarian cuisine or even the wine on offer.
Best for families - rocksresort
One of the largest hotels in LAAX, the rocksresort, is regularly named one of Switzerland’s best hotels for families. Located right next to the LAAX gondola station, this ski-in ski-out hotel comprised of 248 apartments, offers easy access to the mountains (perfect for hiking, mountain biking, or snowsports), and is home to six bars, eight restaurants, and nine stores in the immediate vicinity.
Equipped with stylish double rooms and modern self-catered apartments of various sizes, with the option of adding hotel services to your booking, the flexibility at rocksresort means you can easily find a room to suit guest’s need.
As well as its prime location and stunning views of snow-capped mountains, directly under rocksresort serious freestylers can head to the newly renovated Freestyle Academy to land their first kickflip or practice their snowboard or ski somersaults on trampolines before taking it to the slopes. While for younger guests, the weekly activity programs at the resort ensure there’s always fun to be had, even off the slopes.
