Kathmandu Launches New AW24 Collection With Nod To Cheeky Native Kea Bird

Kathmandu, Australia and New Zealand’s number one outdoor brand, has unveiled its new Autumn/Winter 2024 collection which promises to provide “Insulation for any Situation”.

A certified B Corp, Kathmandu was founded in 1987 in New Zealand and specialises in quality clothing for outdoor adventures. Kathmandu’s purpose is to improve the wellbeing of the world through the outdoors. With a focus on expertly designed, technical and sustainable products, Kathmandu is distributed through 155 retail stores, wholesale, and online.

The launch announcement is accompanied by an ad, entitled the ‘The Thief’, in which New Zealand’s most notorious native bird, the Kea, steals the wallet of an unsuspecting hiker who then chases the bird across some of New Zealand’s most stunning alpine landscape.

Designed for the expected situations as well as the more ‘out there’ ones, Kathmandu’s AW24 collection promises to meet all outdoor needs for the season.

New for the season, the new Seeker jacket range joins the family and will be a core focus of the brand for the AW24 season. Made for the warm up, cool down and everything in-between in chilly temperatures, the jacket features lightweight, breathable warmth of Primaloft Active technology which traps heat but expels moisture whilst a DWR finish provides protection from light rain and drizzle.

Kathmandu’s fully waterproof Trailhead 2.5 Layer jacket has been upgraded for the AW24 season, with added novaLOFT insulation, to keep hikers both warm and dry. The jacket utilises breathable ngx 2-layer fabric to avoid overheating and keep explorers active in the jacket without compromising on comfort.

Juliette Boiteux, Regional Marketing and PR Manager for Europe said “Keeping you warm and dry are our goals this season so we focused our attention on key insulation pieces. So, whether you’re running in the rain or hiking a ridge, Kathmandu gear helps you enjoy the great outdoors for longer.”

“From Trailhead rainwear with novaLOFT insulation to our Seeker active insulation range, the fun continues all season long whatever the weather throws at you. Ultimately, we want this season to be a chance for exploration not hibernation.”

Staying true to Kathmandu’s commitment to sustainability, the B-Corp certified brand has worked hard to utilise recycled and sustainable materials throughout the range. These efforts have been recognised by various bodies including the Textile Exchange – the largest peer-to-peer comparison initiative in the textile industry - which has awarded the brand a Material Change Index Score of Level 4. Level 4 denotes “companies that are pioneering industry transformation” and puts Kathmandu in a very exclusive club with brands such as Patagonia and Outerknown.

The AW24 collection will be available to purchase on www.kathmandu.co.uk as well as selected retailers from 1st September onwards in the UK, US, Europe and Australia.
