Successful “6290 Show Up” Premiere By TDI Snowboard Crew At Penkenpark Mayrhofen
PenkenPark Mayhhofen was the stage for the European premiere of 6290 Show Up (March 27-29, 2024). Hosted by the TDI snowboard crew @technicallydoingit (USA), a group of black snowboarders advocating for more diversity on the mountain and in winter sports. Following their events in the USA, the debut edition on European soil was a resounding success: inclusivity, cultural dialogue and the love of snowboarding took center stage.
Weather didn’t cooperate, but the riders’ spirits certainly did. Strong winds allowed only day at PenkenPark, which was stormed by a crew of 80 motivated riders, including the kids from the Chill Foundation. TDI figurehead Zeb Powell was thrilled: “It’s easy to have a good time when you’re on the mountain with so many people of different colors. It’s cool when people get to experience the vibe and are a part of it.” Luis Medearis, main initiator, added: “It’s something special because everyone in the group understands why we are here.”
The crew indeed brought more color to Mayrhofen and Innsbruck, including a skate session at Landhausplatz, one of Innsbruck’s skate hotspots for years. Burton hosted a BBQ at the European headquarters, kicked off with an interesting panel discussion with the TDI crew.
TDI extends gratitude to partners PenkenPark/Mayrhofen, Burton, DB Journey, and Oakley is already looking forward to the next edition in 2025. See you there!
