Return for Reps in France
The Ski Club reps programme, that expanded last season to 24 resorts, is now returning to France for the first time since 2015. This marks a huge step in the Ski Club’s strategy to offer its members in-resort services in some of the major destinations in the Alps and beyond. The resorts confirmed are Tignes, Meribel, Val Thorens, Flaine and Les Arcs
General Manager of the Ski Club of Great Britain, James Gambrill, said: “We’re delighted to see our Ski Club reps returning to the French Alps after such a big gap away. The reps are located in some of the most popular resorts in France and we’re really pleased that these destinations are welcoming us back and see the value in what Ski Club members bring to the area. Ski Club reps are all volunteers based in resort to help members get the most out of their holidays. They do not guide on the mountain or instruct members, but are there as the club’s concierge to organise social activities and help members meet other members both on and off the slopes. The Ski Club has an extensive programme of instruction and guiding led by qualified professionals through our Freshtracks and Mountain Tracks holidays and our Instructor Led Guiding programmes. But Ski Club reps add huge value to our members experiences in resort – they are dedicated, experienced and well trained through our own in-house reps training programme. This is a huge step in the right direction and something the Ski Club is very proud to be able to offer its members once again”
Membership card is now a lift pass
A partnership with lift pass technology company, Alto.Ski, will see all members issued with one card that can double up as a lift pass. The passes can be loaded up before travel and used in exactly the same way as any normal electronic lift pass, meaning less plastic consumption and waste.
Automatic Public Liability Insurance
For the 2023-24 winter season, all members will have public liability insurance built in as standard. Increasingly, public liability insurance is becoming mandatory for skiers taking to the slopes and countries such as Italy have implemented this as a nationwide policy. Public Liability insurance covers legal costs and liabilities in the case of injury to a third party or damage to property.
Brand New Website
The Ski Club’s website is one of the most important sources of information for skiers in the UK and not only for the club’s members. A brand new website, fully re-designed, is launching at the start of October in time for the National Snow Shows and the build up to the winter season.
Meet the Ski Club at the Snow Shows
The National Snow Show week (October 14-22) includes two major consumer shows over back to back weekends – Birmingham, NEC, October 14-15 and Excel, London, October 21-22. The Ski Club of Great Britain will be attending both events with staff on hand to talk about the benefits of joining. The Ski Club’s ambassador, Chemmy Alcott, will also be there to answer questions.
Ski with Chemmy Alcott
The Ski Club’s ambassador, BBC presenter and former British Team Skier Chemmy Alcott, is running Ski Club member exclusive coaching sessions at The Snow Centre, Hemel Hempstead during the autumn months. Three dates with two sessions of two hours each aimed at intermediate and advanced skiers, will include tips and exercises from one of Great Britain’s most successful Alpine ski racers. Dates include September 28, October 10 and November 7. Cost: £36pp including two hours of skiing on the slope and coaching from Chemmy. Bookings can be made through the Ski Club directly.
New Ikon Pass partnership
The Ski Club has partnered with the premier ski and snowboard seasonal lift pass programme that offers over 50 ski destinations worldwide, including Zermatt, Kitzbuhel and Chamonix in Europe and resorts such as Big Sky, Aspen and Winter Park in the USA. It also includes resorts in Japan, New Zealand and Australia. Ski Club members will be offered a discount on the price of an Ikon Pass for the 2023-24 season. The full, adult unlimited, Ikon Pass starts at US$1,259 per person for 12 months. Members must contact the Ski Club directly for more information.
