Adam Provost, CEO Of USA Nordic Looks Back On 1st Year In Post

Adam Provost, CEO Of USA Nordic has looked back on his first year in the role. He says:

Dear Nordic Community,

This past month, I completed my first year as CEO at USA Nordic Sport.

Reflecting on this past year, we overcame a steep learning curve, restructured our organization, implemented new policies, and slowly capitalized on the momentum driven by our Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined teams. We are learning from our success and our mistakes to improve every day.

When I took on this role, the #1 responsibility and mandate was to provide our athletes, youth through national teams’ access to the best training, coaching, and equipment that would lead to success on-and-off-the-hill.

I am proud of the accomplishments and results of our teams this past season, humbled by the on-going challenges that the athletes continue to face and most of all excited about the upcoming opportunities that lie ahead.

In the past year our organization:

  • Signed a historic Ski Jumping partnership with the Norwegian Federation that led to our Men’s program completing their best finish since 1987 and our Women’s program to their best finish since 2015.
  • Hosted, in conjunction with Lake Placid and ORDA, the first Ski Jumping World Cup held in the United States in nearly 30 years. More than 25 million world-wide watched this event, making it the 4th most viewed World Cup last season.
  • Partnered with the US Ski and Snowboard organization to help enhance athlete development and leverage resources including moving our offices to the USANA Center of Excellence in Park City.

But not everything was a huge success:

The sport of Nordic Combined faces international scrutiny as it fights to remain as an IOC recognized sport after the 2026 Olympic Games. We are diligently working with FIS and establishing a domestic task force to help combat these issues. If anyone is interested in joining this task force – please sign-up here: Nordic Combined Task Force

As we look ahead to the 2023-24 season, we will make some new announcements regarding the upcoming World Cup, a new partnership for Nordic Combined, and exciting new sponsors coming on board that will help support our mission.

But we can’t do it alone. As a not-for-profit organization, all our funding for our national team athletes and grassroots efforts are raised by the Nordic Community and our corporate partners. USA Nordic receives NO financial support from the government, the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee or US Ski and Snowboard.

Today, we are launching a new fundraising campaign (Road to Nationals) that will lead us to our National Championships hosted by ORDA in Lake Placid (October 11-12). Our internal goal is to raise $250,000 to help support our athlete programming.

On average it costs $95,000 per World Cup athlete to train and compete, this includes all the equipment, travel costs, training fees and coaching . This is an opportunity for you to be part of the team and help USA Nordic provide resources to athletes to achieve their goals and dreams.

Please consider a tax-deductible donation to help our athletes compete this season.

Thank you for your support!
