Vorarlberg Lift Co’s Satisfied With Summer Results
The Vorarlberger Bergbahnen recorded good to very good summer results for 2023 with an increase in sales of around five percent compared to the previous year. This year Vorarlberg was particularly popular with guests from Germany, the Benelux countries and the rest of Austria as a summer holiday destination.
The recent warm summer and the stable weather led to a good to very good result for the Vorarlberger Bergbahnen. As the interim balance of the 2023 summer season shows, the cable cars were able to generate an increase in sales of five percent compared to the previous year, while around two percent more first-time entries were recorded. “The mountain railways have been focusing on expanding year-round tourism for many years, so that guests have a very wide and attractive range of mountain experiences available to them. This is also reflected in the sales development and the number of visitors. We are particularly pleased about the latter, namely that we were able to welcome more guests,” explains Andreas Gapp, specialist group chairman of the Vorarlberger Bergbahnen. The Vorarlberg mountain railways are thus joining the state's positive tourism report with more guests and overnight stays. As far as the origin of the guests is concerned, this year there was slightly more demand for cable cars from Germany, the Benelux countries and the rest of Austria, while the number of people from Vorarlberg and Switzerland fell slightly.
The Vorarlberg Cable Cars specialist group represents the interests of 70 members and 32 ski areas. Cable cars and lifts are in operation throughout Vorarlberg, serving a total of around 1,000 kilometers of slopes. On average, over 1,000 employees and 25 apprentices are employed by the Vorarlberg cable car companies.
