Grand Hotel Savoia Cortina D’ampezzo Ready For Winter Highlife In The Dolomites
Grand Hotel Savoia Cortina d'Ampezzo, a Radisson Collection Hotel, lies in the centre of the Dolomites, and in the heart of Cortina d’Ampezzo. For more than a century, Grand Hotel Savoia Cortina d’Ampezzo has been known as Italy's most elegant alpine destination, and in this changing landscape it is even more so, with its futuristic vision for Cortina and its territory. The winter season opens on the 7th December, with sister property Savoia Palace Residences re-opening its doors on 1st December. The five-star hotel is the place to be in Cortina, offering guests a full festive holiday program along with a line-up of guest experiences, services and amenities for the long-awaited ski season. The alpine experience continues after summer, with the winter highlife in the Dolomites being the key to Cortina’s appeal.
Against the backdrop of the Dolomite mountains, the hotel stands as a property that is able to hold a proud position amongst the busy streets of Cortina d’Ampezzo, bringing a rich and treasured heritage for the modern traveller. Cortina came of age in the 1950s, when American presidents and British prime ministers came to sign the guest book. The rest of the world discovered the hotel in the 19th century when it was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. “The hotel has evolved and grown up over the many years and has never lost its essence and personality, and the all-important authenticity and respect to the local territory.” says General Manager Rosanna Conti.
Today, the hotel is a destination with a thriving culture and its vision is poised towards the future. Grand Hotel Savoia Cortina d’Ampezzo is the only hotel in the region with more than one hundred rooms and a conference centre that can host major international events such as the Boat International Design & Innovation Awards; the annual international classic car challenge, the Coppa d’Oro delle Dolomiti; the Winter Raid and the WinteRace; TEDX talks; the literary festival, La montagna di Libri and more, all now part of the hotel’s annual social calendar each year, not to mention the preparations for the highly anticipated Winter Olympics of 2026.
Delightful details and an effortless fusion of luxury and elegance define the spacious and newly refurbished rooms and suites at the hotel which are cool, comfortable and cosy at the same time. With their dazzlingly beautiful views of the surrounding mountain peaks, the interior décor of the rooms is inspired by the majesty of the Dolomites, not only with the choice of natural materials such as a variety of woods, but also with the earthy colour palette that has been chosen for the textiles and soft furnishings. Returning to the hotel, you can be sure to warm up in front of a lovely fireplace and relax completely in your room with its refined décor. Or else wander among the picturesque streets of Cortina and discover its secret which brings people back year in, year out. Whatever your choice, all 135 rooms of Grand Hotel Savoia Cortina d’Ampezzo offer the opportunity for an unforgettable stay in the heart of Cortina d’Ampezzo. “With their natural colour palette, their hard-wood floors, their high-end Italian furnishings, they are distilled to a sort of minimalist purity. Some smallish single rooms make for an affordable entry level, but they quickly increase in size from there, on up to a collection of suites that are positively residential in proportion. A new breed of Grand Hotel. Contemporary, classic and lively” – The Michelin Guide
