Exciting gastronomic change at the Enzian. Philippe Oswald is now at the helm, combining tradition with French refinement.
Philippe Oswald, who worked at the renowned Elsie's Bar for 12 years, successfully taking over the tenancy for the past five years, has made a name for himself in the Zermatt gastronomy scene. At Elsie's Bar and as resident manager at the Hotel Monte Rosa, where he also managed the Restaurant 1818, he has shown his talent for inspiring guests and offering gastronomic excellence. Chef Jean-Louis Barbier, previously sous chef at Unique Hotel Post before working as chef patissier at Hotel Europe and most recently at La Couronne, complements the team perfectly.
Combining Swiss and French cuisine is at the heart of the concept, uniting Philippe's origins and his adopted home of Zermatt. Guests can look forward to a varied menu ranging from Swiss classics to French delicacies. One highlight is the “Moët&Chandon” oyster bar by the entrance.
With its breathtaking view and warm and inviting ambience, the Enzian promises a gastronomic experience that will delight both local residents and tourists.
The BaseCamp Hotel reopens following an extensive renovation
The BaseCamp Hotel will welcome guests again from 15 December 2023 – and show off its new look.
The BaseCamp will reopen its doors again soon to welcome mountain enthusiasts and nature lovers with a new look. Whether visitors want to ski, bike, hike or simply marvel at the views of the Matterhorn, every guest will feel at home in the newly renovated premises. The mountaineering style of the BaseCamp has received a revamp. The 27 rooms make an impressive impact: individual, hand-painted murals, personal stories and modern furnishings promise a feel-good factor after a busy day.
The hotel aims to increase the comfort level for guests and focus on its personality and uniqueness. Each room tells its own story, set in the heart of the mountain world.
Bristol goes greener – Hotel Bristol produces its own power from solar panels
The family-run three-star Hotel Bristol now generates a third of its electricity consumption with solar power produced in-house.
The Bristol now has solar panels integrated into the roof. These allow the hotel to cover a third of its electricity consumption from solar power.
In spring and summer 2023, the three-star Bristol Hotel located in the centre of Zermatt equipped its hotel roof with integrated solar panels. The solar power became operational from the start of August and now covers around a third of the hotel’s consumption.
Over this period, more than 13 MWh of electricity have been produced, saving 4,990 kg of CO2 already – which equates to 149 planted trees.
The family-friendly hotel is located only 10 minutes from the Sunnegga valley station and a stone’s throw from the bus stop, offering transport by electric bus to the Matterhorn valley station every 10 minutes. The hotel has 44 cosily furnished rooms, mostly with balconies and many with enchanting views of the Matterhorn.
