VRetreats Acquires Cervino, Valle D’Aosta,
VRetreats, a collection of Italian Lifestyle Hotels with properties across many spectacular locations including Venice, Rome, Sicily and Sardinia, has now acquired their first alpine offering, the 70-room mountain paradise, Cervino set at the end of the Aosta Valley on the Italian side of the Matterhorn.
Opening on 6th December, just in time for the start of winter season, Cervino is an exciting and innovative alpine hideaway which pays homage to the surrounding landscape. The core of the building process was a desire to respect the landscape whilst integrating it into the design. To this extent the building works as an extension of the mountains it sits within and provides a link between the surrounding valley floors, forest, and lofty peaks.
Cervino is a modern structure of more than 9,250sqm with six floors divided into three sperate spaces. The three spaces that make up the hotel house 70 rooms, including six suites as well as four ADA accessible rooms. Each room makes use of many local, natural, eco-friendly elements such as wood and glass and offer awe-inspiring views of the landscape. In culinary terms Cervino aims to captivate guests at Le Saveur Restaurant. The restaurant celebrates traditional Vadostana cuisine and offers diners panoramic views of the Matterhorn and surrounding peaks. Guests can also admire the view with a speciality cocktail in hand at the hotel’s Santus Lounge Bar. After an active filled day exploring Cervinia, guests can retreat to the comfort and serenity of the properties a state-of-the-art wellness area. The space includes four SPA suites, two indoor swimming pools, three saunas, a salt room and an indoor gymnasium.
Why Visit Cervinia?
- One of the Largest and Highest Ski Areas in the Alps: The high-altitude ski area has over 150km of pistes to explore with most pistes lying well above 3,000m. The slopes are high, open and mostly very sunny thanks to their westerly orientation. Cervinia not only guarantees fantastic snow coverage, but also gives access to the Swiss resort of Zermatt and the Plateau, which can be reached from Cervinia in just over 30 minutes using the ski lifts and slopes. With all these resorts combined there is a total ski area of 360km.
- Early Start, Late Finish: Due to the Plateau Rosà Glacier, Cervinia offers one of Europe’s longest seasons with skiing possible for around nine months of the year. Visitors can ski from mid-October all the way through to the beginning of May.
- Ski in Italy and Switzerland within an Hour: July 2023 saw the opening of the Matterhorn Alpine Crossing; the highest cable car crossing in the Alps which offers a new route between Cervinia and Zermatt. The 90-minute crossing is an experience in a class of its own – gliding over the stunning mountain landscape that straddles the Italian-Swiss border, with the Matterhorn always in view, it takes visitors on a journey through the Alps. The new connection transforms holidays to one of Europe’s most sought-after resorts in the process.
- Train Like the Champions: Cervinia and Plateau Rosà have become the training ground for the World Cup national and international teams. Skiers and snowboarders can head to Snowpark Zermatt, which is the largest freestyle facility on any glacier.
