New Document On Urban Cable Cars Released

“Floating to the goal” is the title of a current brochure from the regional association. The publication documents the numerous ideas and impulses of the 2nd FrankfurtRheinMain Cable Car Day, which took place in May 2023. At the event in the Haus der Region, experts invited by the regional association explored the opportunities and possibilities of this innovative vertical transport system - and to what extent the region could benefit from a cable car route.

In addition to exemplary success stories for urban cable cars around the world, the positive effects that cable cars can have for mobility, urban development and neighborhood development in metropolitan areas are described. The focus of the publication is the sketch of ideas for a reference route that could connect the Kaiserlei district of Offenbach with the Frankfurt Riederhöfe and the ice rink in the east of Frankfurt.

“Our brochure is not just a documentation of the 2nd FrankfurtRheinMain Cable Car Day. It is an appeal to stick to the topic. The time is ripe for a reference route across the Main: That's why I'm particularly pleased that it was recently decided to carry out a potential study on a cable car connection between the Kaiserlei and the ice rink," said Thomas Horn, director of the FrankfurtRhineMain regional association.
