Mammoth Mountain Winter Operations Will Continue Through To July
Mammoth Mountain has received an incredible amount of snow so far in the 22-23 season with the total at 634”/ 16.1 Metres, the resort’s is predicted to reach its season snowfall record (668”/16.96 Metres) in the next week. As a result of the massive snowfall the resort has announced all winter operations will continue to run until at least July and could extend further with no official closing date confirmed.
As California’s highest chairlift serviced peak, Mammoth Mountain is well known for its extended spring seasons. It has a long been one of few resorts that can operate so far into the summer months and does so almost every year. But this is the first time an extension of this length has been announced so early on in the winter season. This is great news for any skiers and snowboarders in the area and for those who are planning to visit as this is likely to be the best spring skiing and riding the eastern Sierra has ever seen.
Winter operations continuing also means that visitors to the resort can continue to take advantage of cross-country and Nordic skiing, snowshoe trails, snowmobiling, snowcat tours, sledding and tubing.
Currently the snow is 305” (7.7 Meters) deep at the summit of the mountain and at 252” (6.4 Meters) at Main Lodge. With more expected in the coming weeks its set to be a season to remember at Mammoth Mountain.
