Purgatory Resort Announces 2023 Summertime Operations & Events

Following a historic winter with record snowfall, Purgatory Resort welcomes summer with a full slate of activities and signature events. As Durango's premier outdoor destination, Purgatory invites guests to enjoy summer on the mountain starting June 17, weather permitting.

Highlighting Purgatory's summer season are signature events and returning favorites like Summer Brew and Mushroom and Wine Dinner. Beer aficionados can delight their tastebuds at Summer Brew craft beer and music festival on July 15, while those seeking culinary adventures can join the annual Mushroom and Wine Dinner and Mushroom Hunt events in August.

Art enthusiasts will appreciate Carve Wars on August 4, featuring fine chainsaw art and a live carving competition. Guests can expect free weekly live music at the San Juan Sessions. The Mountain Marmot trail race and Downhill Rockies bike race welcome the changing fall colors with fitness and competition. Purgatory Bike Park continues to attract nationally acclaimed mountain bike events and top athletes from around the world. For mountain bike racers, Trail Party Gravity Stage Racing Tour promises an exhilarating event on June 24. The world's top enduro series, Big Mountain Enduro returns to the San Juans on July 6 for a unique blend of backcountry riding and lift-accessed stages.

Kids ages 12 and younger will continue to enjoy free unlimited mountain bike uplifts at the Purgatory Bike Park with a Power Kids season pass. From lift-served downhill mountain biking trails designed for experts to the fun and flowy Shangri-La beginner trail, Purgatory has something for riders of all abilities who are looking to gain confidence or hone their skills. Purgatory’s Bike Park is the gateway to over 400 miles of high alpine singletrack and backcountry trails in Colorado's San Juan Mountains. Beyond the Bike Park, Purgatory Resort offers a wide range of on-mountain activities at the Village Plaza Base Area. Thrill-seekers can experience the adrenaline-pumping Inferno Mountain Coaster, the exhilarating Alpine Slide, and the excitement of Treasure Panning, Twilight Lake Board & Boat, Scenic Chairlift Rides, and Kids Off-Road Track. The Day Ticket includes half-day (AM or PM) access to summer activities and a la carte tickets are available for purchase both in advance and onsite. Purgatory Resort is scheduled to operate from 10 am to 5 pm daily until August 13, and weekends from August 18 to October 1, weather permitting. New this season, Purgatory will extend weekend operations to include Fridays, extending the summer schedule by 7 days. Discover more at Purgatory.ski.
