Sattel-Hochstuckli To Focus On Beginners In Winter
In future, the focus in winter will be on newcomers to winter sports, as well as experiences in the snow and offers without snow. The two ski lifts on the Hochstuckli will not be in operation. Skiing is to be concentrated on the Engelstock facilities. There are economic, social and climatic reasons for this repositioning.
The Sattel-Hochstuckli AG undertakes a strategic repositioning and sees itself as a competence center for snow sports beginners in the future.
"We are focusing on what we are already doing very well together with our partners and what we have good prerequisites for," explains the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Martin Ulrich. In winter, the focus of business activity will be on the experience on the family mountain with and in the snow, with and without winter sports equipment. The "one-two-ski" product, which has already been successfully positioned, is to be marketed even more prominently. Other offers are also being developed that are suitable all year round and those that work in winter with little or no snow.
The competence center for snow sports beginners is spatially concentrated in the Mostelberg-Engelstock area with the Engelstock ski lift, Rondos learning and fun land with its children's lifts and the magic carpet as well as the conveyor belt in the return tunnel. In this area there is also the possibility to continue supporting the ski youth with evening training sessions and competitions.
Hochstuckli becomes the 'snow mountain for everyone'
This strategic repositioning means that the two Bärenfang and Hochstuckli ski lifts are no longer in operation. The Herrenboden-Hochstuckli area becomes a «snow mountain for everyone». Gentle and natural, partly controlled winter offers with little infrastructure will find a place and be developed there.
The Board of Directors decided on this repositioning not least under the impression of the past, very demanding winter and after a detailed analysis of the current economic situation of the Sattel-Hochstuckli AG. The board of directors also considered relevant trends, the development of needs of the main target groups, noticeable climate change and future business challenges.
Painful farewell
The Board of Directors is aware that this repositioning and the associated abandonment of the two transport facilities on the Hochstuckli is painful for tourism partners and for the population of Sattel and the surrounding area and represents a farewell to a tradition that has become dear. However, the previous winter operation can no longer be economically justified and endangers the continued existence of the company as a whole.
Create space for something new
Letting go also means creating space for something new, spatially and intellectually. This repositioning frees up space, resources and energy for the development of offers beyond and in addition to the previous offers. SattelHochstuckli wants to continue to be "The Family Mountain" with an attractive offer all year round, which is created according to objective criteria and can thus form the basis for the further development and long-term security of the company.
