New Attraction Opens At Flumserberg

The new, exciting Rohan red deer adventure trail was officially opened on Flumserberg. For the greeting at the opening, the initiator, Flumserberg Tourism, welcomed Beat Tinner, Head of the Economics Department of the Canton of St.Gallen.

It was with great pleasure that Esther Beeler, President of Flumserberg Tourism, welcomed the invited guests to the opening of the new themed trail on the Prodkamm - the Rohan Red Deer Adventure Trail. The new adventure for families was implemented in cooperation with the Flumserberg mountain railways and the production company Erlebnisplan. Government Councilor Beat Tinner enthused in his opening speech: "Its magnificent landscapes, green meadows, mountains and attractive tourism allow every city dweller to find peace and enjoy nature. With this theme trail, Flumserberg is setting another milestone.»

Learning and hiking in a playful way – the journey is the goal

The theme trail starts on Prodkamm at 1939 m. The starting point is easily reached with the Prodalp-Express gondola from Tannenheim and with the 8-seater chairlift from Prodalp. The path leads down the valley over 3 kilometers with a depth of 366 meters back to Prodalp and is designed for children of primary school age. A pedagogical component was also deliberately integrated. The secrets and powers of medicinal herbs from our region are explained to young and old explorers on the adventure trail, and they learn to respect and protect nature in a playful way.

The wise, white red deer as the main character

Intact nature is the main protagonist on this themed trail. The 15 wooden stations nestle into the mystical landscape. The weathered trees along the hiking trail look like deer antlers and, in addition to the fact that there is a population of over 100 animals in the Schilstal, was the idea for the main character Rohan red deer. In earlier times, the knowledge of the healing properties of plants was attributed to the deer because its antlers, like the plants, sprout anew in spring. Rohan conveys wisdom, strength and elegance - with the change of antlers also covering the theme of the seasons and renewal.

Achieved a lot together

Thanks to the interaction and the financial support of various institutions and service providers, Flumserberg can offer its visitors a new highlight in the snow-free period. The investment sum for the new offer is almost CHF 370,000. In addition to the local communities of Flums-Dorf and Grossberg, the Alpkorporation Mols, the Swiss Ski and Snowboard School Flumserberg and the Flumserberg holiday home association, the project was also supported by the canton of St.Gallen via the new regional policy. The new theme trail delights guests and benefits all tourist partners on Flumserberg. The Mosterei Möhl also offered a generous commitment and offered all young guests an organic spritzer at the Prodalp mountain restaurant after the end of the adventure trail if the collection card was full.
