KAT100 By UTMB, 4th Edition To Run In August
After the Trail Running World Championships in Innsbruck, the trail runners in PillerseeTal are just before the Champions League: The KAT100, Austria's longest ultra trail run, is also Tyrol's only trail running event from August 3rd to 5th, which starts as part of the international series -UTMB- .
A tribute to the passion for running and nature: that is the KAT100 by UTMB® in the Kitzbühel Alps. From August 3rd to 5th, the participants will go through and over the most beautiful and demanding peaks of the Kitzbüheler Alpen. In the backpack - seven different distances. At the beginning of August, trail running professionals are just as in demand as ambitious hobby athletes, beginners and young runners. The starting point for all distances is Fieberbrunn, in the heart of the PillerseeTal.The flagship, the "100 Miles" distance, sends the participants a total of 170.7 kilometers and 9,820 meters in altitude over flowing trails, high-altitude paths with great views and rocky passages through the Kitzbühel Alps. The start is on Thursday, August 3rd at 6 p.m. The first highlight awaits right at sunset: the breathtaking scenery at the summit of the Wildseeloder. At night it goes via Hochfilzen and St. Ulrich, past the illuminated Jakobskreuz, to Waidring and St. Johann. Here the route leads to Austria's steepest cycle mountain: the Kitzbüheler Horn. Almost half of the KAT100 has been completed at this checkpoint, but no less challenging passages are still to come - including the renewed ascent to the Wildseeloderhaus 20 kilometers before the finish line. The distance of the KAT100 can also be run in teams of two or four as part of the Ekiden Trails.
If you don't dare to cover the unbelievable distance of 100 miles, a shorter but no less demanding challenge over 92 kilometers awaits you - the KAT100 Endurance Trail. With a good half of the kilometers and 5,110 meters in altitude, the competition is aimed at all night owls. It starts together with the 100 miles on the same route. The goal is in Kitzbühel, where the legs can be relaxed at sunrise.
Physical and mental strength are also required for all those who are at the starting line of the KAT100 as part of the marathon trail. The route, which is 48.2 kilometers and 3,220 meters in altitude, leads across the mountains surrounding Fieberbrunn and, among other things, up to the Wildseeloder twice. The "Loder" marks the highlight on the 24.2 kilometers and 1,640 meters in altitude that the speed trail covers, before a rapid downhill section takes you back to the center of Fiebebrunn.
The KAT100 leads beginners and children to a unique running experience The KAT100 by UTMB offers the Easy Trail for all trail running beginners.
And children who are enthusiastic about running also have the opportunity to prove their stamina as part of the KAT100 on different distances between 500 and 1,500 meters. In any case, the smallest among the trail running fans are cheered on with lots of applause by numerous spectators.
