Iglu Ski Celebrates 25 Years

Following a successful 22/23 season, Iglu Ski round up all that’s new for winter 23/24, in which they celebrate their 25th season!

Celebrating 25 years of ski holidays this Winter

Iglu Ski opened their virtual doors in 1998, making them a stalwart in the ski industry. Withstanding numerous global challenges, Iglu Ski has thrived, and is now the UK’s largest ski travel agency. The key to their success? They remain dynamic and agile, in order to meet skiers’ needs. MD Simon McIntyre says, ‘To reach 25 years is a significant milestone and one we’re proud to have achieved. We can’t wait to innovate and grow to ensure we continue to thrive for the next 25 years and deliver everything a skier needs’.

Resorts and hotels flagged for sustainability

Iglu Ski have made a firm commitment to help their customers be environmentally aware, by auditing their website to bring a focus to hotels and resorts which are working to reduce carbon emissions. A new green leaf will appear clearly by each resort and hotel who have passed Iglu’s test to be graded as environmentally-friendly. Resorts will be flagged for making a commitment to reduce carbon with an environmental charter; accommodation providers will be flagged for reducing waste and promoting recycling, lowering non-natural energy consumption and supporting local businesses rather than sourcing products from a distance.

Iglu report continued interest from guests in non-flight options to get to the mountains. In order to test possible options, Iglu’s MD, Simon McIntyre, chose to drive an EV from home in the south of England to Val d’Isère in April 2023.

22/23 Customer Feedback

A revealing end-of-season survey amongst Iglu Ski guests revealed key trends:

  • There are definitive factors influencing the choice of a ski holiday such as snow certainty

  • Customers are looking for varied ski holidays, not only a week-long package

  • North America remains an appealing ski destination

  • Brits prefer not to take lessons

It also revealed a keen appetite for skiing post-Covid-19, with many skiers taking two ski trips per season.

This encourages families with various needs to consider booking ski trips in the future.
