Courchevel Prepares To Host The Tour De France

Saturday July 1st marked the big start of the 110th edition of the Tour de France.

On July 19, it is on the Altiport of Courchevel Michel Ziegler that the peloton will cross the finish line of the 17th stage, linking Saint-Gervais Mont-Blanc to Courchevel.

With a rich and varied entertainment program, Courchevel offers holidaymakers, locals and cycling enthusiasts the opportunity to celebrate the return of the Tour de France to the town, after 18 years of absence.

The Climb of the Tour - July 17

In line with the Stage of the Tour de France, the Ascension du Tour will take place on Monday July 17, i.e. 2 days before the official arrival of the Grande Boucle in Courchevel. A unique opportunity to experience the passage of the Col de la Loze, a pass classified as hors category, on the same roads and in conditions almost identical to those of the professional cyclists of the Tour de France. This climb over the last 35 kilometers from Brides-les-Bains to arrive on the track of the Altiport of Courchevel Michel Ziegler.

For this first edition of the Ascension du Tour, one of the legends of cycling and consultant on France Television will be the sponsor: Laurent Jalabert!

Let's give THEM to the bike J-1 is an associative project. Created in 2015, this project brings together, in the form of an amateur cycling team, a dozen women who complete all 21 stages of the Tour de France, one day before the official passage of the riders.

Thus, on July 18, 2023, the peloton Donnons des ELLES au vélo D-1 will cross the finish line of stage 17 of the Tour de France at the Altiport of Courchevel Michel Ziegler.

Young and old can immerse themselves in the world of cycling on this ephemeral mini-golf course, created by and for the Tour de France, and featuring the discipline's emblematic objects: terminals, jerseys, wheels, cans... the course.

The Tour de France mini-golf will be set up on July 18, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. then from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on the shores of Lac du Praz.

Les Frangines Duguidon – Clown, acrobatic, musical and interactive performance – July 18

What would have happened if the characters in the tales had had a bicycle? Honoring the legacy of their late parents, Jean-Guibole Duguidon and Marcelle de la Virgule-Bien-Placée, sisters Ernestine and Gigote are taking advantage of their wheeled expeditions to reflect on this question. Cinderella, Goldilocks, Sleeping Beauty, Red Riding Hood are revisited with songs, patches, handlebars and other horns

And if there is a lesson to be learned from all this history, it is that sitting on a saddle, life is more beautiful!

This performance is aimed at a family audience (from 3 years old) and will take place on July 18, at 5 p.m., at the Courchevel media library, in Courchevel Le Praz.

Funny Bikes – July 19

The shores of Lac du Praz will welcome all kinds of “funny bikes”! Everyone can then challenge themselves: ride a Grand-Bi, tame an articulated bike, tame a unicycle... in total there are about twenty fun bikes that the public can test. Waterfalls and laughter guaranteed!

Demonstrations will also take place at 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Events offered by Courchevel Tourisme, animation accessible from 5 years old.
