Serfaus - Construction Work On The New Komperdellbahn Ongoing

A lot has happened at the new Komperdellbahn in recent months. Intensive work has been done in all areas, the replacement of the Komperdellbahn is progressing rapidly and we can look back with satisfaction at the progress so far.

Shell construction intermediate station completed

The shell construction work on the new intermediate station was completed on time before the first snowfall - it will then be completed in 2023. In the upper area of the intermediate station, all the excavated material was reinstalled - the gondola station is more or less no longer visible from the outside. The greening will be done next spring - the building will then be optimally integrated into the landscape.

Widening of the slope at the middle run

The entire slope construction below the station up to the S-curve could also be completed on time, in the lowest area (between the S-curve and the Sunliner valley station) the central descent was temporarily filled up. This work will be finalized next spring with the excavated material from the new valley station. The first slope stabilization work was carried out at the valley station in autumn. The widening of the runway is now also clearly visible.

A stone wall was also started, which will also be completed next spring. Skiers can already benefit from the widening of the pistes this winter - the bottleneck in the valley station area has thus been somewhat smoothed out this year.

What has been done so far?

The work on the new metalworking shop was also completed and the final relocation work is currently being carried out. The employees are enthusiastic about the new premises.

The remaining cables were laid at the mountain station and the old transformers were completely dismantled. The two new transformers are already in service and are already waiting to be used on the new railway. The piste corrections on the Waldabfahrt are also finished - this improvement will certainly be noticed positively by the guests in the coming winter.

A challenging summer of 2023 awaits

The greatest challenges await in the coming summer - when the existing lift will actually be dismantled and the new valley station built.

Everything on schedule

All work could therefore be completed on schedule. The winter can come. For the existing Komperdellbahn, however, this means that it will start its last winter season. Incidentally, this started operations in 1988 and had (had) a capacity of 2,400 people per hour. Thousands of guests have been transported to the Komperdell in the 6-seater gondolas over the past decades. So if you want to take the last chance to travel by train again, you have to do it this winter, because this era will definitely come to an end in spring - and a new chapter of the Komperdellbahn will be opened!
