TechnoAlpin Ready With Snowmaking For The 2023 World Championships
The Bolzano-based snowmaking company TechnoAlpin is the official technical partner of the 2023 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, taking place from February 5th to 19th in Courchevel and Méribel, France. TechnoAlpin is also ensuring snow at the FIS Snowboard, Freestyle and Freeski World Championships in Bakuriani, Georgia, which begin on February 19th. To ensure perfect conditions for all athletes, the slopes have been equipped with the latest technology.
The TechnoAlpin company has had a close partnership with the ski areas of Courchevel and Méribel in France for many years. "We have a very strong French branch that provides our customers with optimal on-site support," explains TechnoAlpin Managing Director Erich Gummerer. With a view to the Alpine Ski World Championships, the snow-making systems in both ski areas have been optimized and modernized again. A total of 65 new snow guns were delivered. "Thanks to our many years of experience with major events and our good knowledge of the local conditions, we were able to offer our partners an optimal solution," Gummerer continues. "We are therefore proud to now also be an official partner of this event."
Major project in Georgia
On the other hand, TechnoAlpin has implemented a completely new project in Georgia over the past two years. In 2021 and 2022, TechnoAlpin won the tender for the snowmaking system in the Bakuriani ski area. The FIS Snowboard, Freestyle and Freeski World Championships will take place there from February 19th to March 5th. “When the World Championships were held, those responsible in Georgia promised that everything would be done to organize the event in accordance with the highest international standards. The main aim is to promote the future of winter sports in Georgia,” reports Nemanja Dogo, Sales Director at TechnoAlpin. Georgia consists of 70% mountains and is almost predestined for successful winter sports.
Around 250 snow guns of the latest generation were delivered to Georgia in 2021 and 2022. “We not only supply the snow guns, but the entire turnkey system. This simplifies installation and operation enormously for our customers,” Dogo explains the procedure. In addition to the snow guns, TechnoAlpin also installed 4 machine rooms with pump and compressed air stations, 29 km of water pipes made of ductile cast iron and 26 km of data cables. The system is controlled fully automatically at the push of a button using the latest software version from TechnoAlpin. Overall, the project in Georgia is one of the largest orders in the company's history.
“The fact that we are able to guarantee snow for two such important events is something very special. This underscores our technological leadership and testifies to our reliability and our extensive know-how at major events,” says TechnoAlpin Managing Director Erich Gummerer with conviction. "Last but not least, we were able to prove this at the Olympic Winter Games in Beijing, which, as is well known, were also held 100% on slopes with our technology."
