Sustainability is a central issue in the cable car industry. Sustainability measures can be implemented in many areas - including ski and mountain railway tickets. Franz Hörl, Chairman of the Austrian Cable Car Association, and Andreas Kranabetter, Director Business Line Mountain at SKIDATA, together with Viktoria Haberl (Tyrol Chamber of Commerce), Ramon Baumgartner and Andreas Fili (Tyrolean Economic Association) were able to experience this during a visit to the card production center of the exceet Card Group in Convince Kematen. There, ski and mountain railway tickets are made from recycled PVC.

Robert Wolny, the COO of the exceet Card Group, led the guests through the card production center. The exceet Card Group has invested around 10 million euros in the site over the last two years, making it one of the most modern production facilities in Europe. "SKIDATA has been publishing high-quality ski maps that we produce for over two decades. Our common focus is on quality and sustainability. The maps are rewritable and therefore reusable. Recently we have also been producing the maps from recycled PVC. Another big step towards this Sustainability that reduces the ecological footprint," explains Robert Wolny.

The visit also offered the opportunity for a constructive dialogue between exceet, Ski Data and the cable car industry - an essential factor for mutual progress, according to Hörl Franz from the Austrian Cable Car Association: "Here we don't just talk, we act here. Our visit to the exceet Card Austria has impressively shown what significant innovations there are already in the area of sustainability for the cable car industry. The switch to 100% recycled PVC is a notable example of this. As an association, we emphasize the importance of partnerships. Cooperations between cable car companies, technology providers and card manufacturers, such as exceet Card Austria, are essential to achieve common goals in environmental protection."

Andreas Kranabetter from SKIDATA confirms: "Collaboration with partners like exceet Card Austria is a key aspect of our efforts towards innovation and sustainability. With the decision to switch to recycled material, we not only show responsibility towards the environment, but also the strength of our partnership . I am convinced that together we can implement a more sustainable approach to ski and mountain railway operations, from which our winter sports resorts and their guests will benefit."
