Serre Chevalier Setting Up For Redbull Dual Shapes 1st Edition
In 2019, Pierre Vaultier broke the internet with “Shapes”. In Serre Chevalier, he navigated a snowboard course featuring a sequence of snow modules reaching heights of up to 6 meters and aligned on a flat terrain spanning 250 meters. In 2022, he repeated the feat with the video “Reshapes”, showcasing an even more impressive snow pump track.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Red Bull Dual Shapes is a unique snowboarding competition in the distinctive style of Pierre Vaultier.
- The inaugural edition will take place on January 27, 2024, on a specially constructed snow pump track in Serre Chevalier.
- Registrations are open: 48 amateur male and female snowboarders will be selected.
"Shapes and Reshapes sparked countless conversations with the audience. Everyone wanted to try riding the line—some thought it was easy, while others knew how technical it truly was," recalls Pierre.
The public's reactions to these two videos fueled his determination to transform the video concept into a sports event open to all: Red Bull Dual Shapes.
On January 27, 48 amateur snowboarders (men and women) are expected for this unprecedented event.
In a 1 vs. 1 duel, participants face off on two mirrored lines of modules, with a central platform. Competitors navigate the course back and forth for two winning runs. The first to ring the bell placed on the platform wins the round.
"I wanted a structure of modules that was ultra-graphic and aesthetic, in total continuity with Shapes and Reshapes. A line that is as rhythmic as the starting section of a boardercross. It's a real challenge since the duel format requires designing two exactly identical lines, each 60 meters long (thus 120 meters round trip), that work in both directions and, most importantly, are accessible to non-professional riders. The margin for error is therefore very narrow," explains Pierre.
