New Matrix NC From Wintersteiger: Structured Grinding For Best Times
The Alpine Ski World Cup opener in Sölden this year was not only the starting signal for the world's top international ski racers. For WINTERSTEIGER Sports it was also the starting signal for the coming winter sports season and at the same time the launch date for a new racing grinding machine. With the Matrix NC, the specialist for ski service machines presented a novelty for base grinding in ski racing. Regardless of whether it is slalom or one of the speed disciplines – the gliding properties of a ski are one of the decisive factors. This applies equally to the Nordic area.
The Matrix NC is the successor to the Race NC, which has been established for 15 years and takes base grinding, profile structures and 3D structures for ski racing to a new level. Using an integrated structure generator, structures and base surfaces can be generated virtually for the first time and then applied to the ski. The service technician receives a preview of the selected settings in advance. The settings can also be created externally via a PC/laptop and then transferred to the Matrix NC - this saves time given the technicians' very tight schedule during the racing season.
The Matrix NC can be tailored very individually to customer needs thanks to its configuration options and offers many equipment options. Customers can choose between a pneumatic or electronic feed, a rubberized roller or a go-kart tire, as well as numerous centering options for the ski. The Matrix NC also offers numerous equipment options such as a high-pressure water pump for cleaning the grindstone, integrated stone management or automatic stone height adjustment. When developing the Matrix NC, great focus was placed on the intuitive and user-friendly operation of the machine. The main features of this are the structure preview, the remote control for touching the diamond on the grinding stone and the assistance programs for balancing and changing the stone. The Matrix NC was developed for racing. Due to its high level of user-friendliness, the machine will probably also be used in the area of special ski grinding for end consumers.
In addition to associations such as Ski Austria, the German Ski Association and other regional associations, it is primarily the manufacturers with whom WINTERSTEIGER works in close partnership. Together with Emanuel Mayringer, the WINTERSTEIGER Sports Racing Director, a team consisting of technicians and developers ensures support for WINTERSTEIGER's racing customers. For Emanuel Mayringer, collaboration with associations and manufacturers is the key to new developments at the highest level: “The special thing about these partnerships is that everything revolves around best performances and top rankings. In this way, everyone supports each other in order to achieve the optimum. This in turn enables the teams and manufacturers to achieve top rankings.”
