New 8SBK Limbergbahn In Saalbach Is Allowed To Start Operating
With around 270 kilometers of slopes, the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn is one of the largest and most attractive ski areas in Austria. After 29 years and well over 15 million passengers transported, the Limberg 4 Series was retired. It was replaced by a modern 8-seater chairlift, the construction of which was recently successfully completed. The new 8SBK Limbergbahn in Saalbach is already the second project managed and planned by Melzer & Hopfner, which will be handed over this year.
Melzer & Hopfner's expertise was demonstrated by the significant work on this project, which ranged from the careful creation of various variants, the cable car technical planning to the structural engineering design and implementation planning, including the associated tendering and smooth coordination with authorities including senior construction management. This holistic approach was reflected in the successful collaboration with the companies Doppelmayr, Frey, Fatzer, Empl, Oberrater, HTB and numerous other professionals who were significantly involved.
The biggest thanks go to the Saalbacher Bergbahnen, who have trusted in the know-how of Melzer & Hopfner for decades. In this constellation and the usual composition of the project team, a unique project could be built in a sensational collaboration.
Nature and technology in harmony.
The new 8-seater chairlift not only brings increased transport capacity and comfort to the sunny side of the Schattberg, but also shows the commitment to sustainability. A spacious PV system at the valley station supplies green electricity, while the heat pump with depth sensors provides the heating energy for the valley station.
In addition to the pure cable car technology, the infrastructure building in the valley station houses numerous well-equipped parking spaces for snow groomers and the necessary rooms for storage, service and technology.
Versatile mountain experience.
The Limbergbahn is not just a pure winter sports feature. For the possible future integration of the system into the bike route network, up to 5 downhill bikes can be transported per chair, thus underlining our vision of a year-round track.
