Matthias Mayer Takes On Role As Ambassador For 2025 World Champs
The three-time Olympic champion and Austria's most successful alpine skiracer in Olympic Winter Games is now the official ambassador for the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2025 in Saalbach. "I want to share my passion and enthusiasm for skiing with all fans and contribute my part to a successful World Ski Championships," says the 33-year-old Carinthian, who has been advising the speed teams since this season and is really looking forward to this new and exciting task.
The Saalbach double winner of 2015 was also impressed by the World Championships concept from the beginning: "It is a great honor for me to take on this role. Skiing was and is still is my life. I have been to many major events and have experienced a lot in my career. The overall concept for the World Championships in Saalbach has inspired me and I’m absolutely convinced that we will experience a real sports festival in February 2025."
Christian Scherer, CEO of the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2025 in Saalbach, is delighted with the "new addition" to the team: "Matthias will not only generate the enthusiasm of the fans, but will also actively participate in events and PR activities to increase the anticipation and excitement for the World Championships 2025 in Saalbach." The eleven-time World Cup winner will already appear in his new role tomorrow at the Legends Race in Bad Kleinkirchheim on the occasion of the 70th birthday of Olympic champion Franz Klammer.
