“Kristallloipe Untertal” In Rohrmoos Receives A Cross Country Trail Quality Award
It is without a doubt one of the most beautiful cross-country ski trails in the valleys of the Schladming-Dachstein region, and especially on cold winter mornings like the ones we are currently experiencing, it becomes clear where it gets its name from. The Styrian Ski Association has now officially awarded the cross-country trail quality seal to the “Kristallloipe Untertal” in Rohrmoos. The Untertal is the second cross-country ski trail network in the region to receive this award, alongside the Nordic center Ramsau am Dachstein. The criteria that must be met include a minimum length of five kilometers with a classic and a skating track, good signage with detailed information, securing the slopes, at least 60 days of guaranteed snow and permanent preparation of the tracks.
Over a total of 13.5 kilometers, the Kristallloipe takes all fans of cross-country skiing from the Hinkerbrücke starting point to the Rohrmooser Untertal and back again. It offers a wonderful view of the mountain giants of the Klafferkessel and the crystal clear water of the Untertalbach. Together with the two skating rounds, a winter hiking trail and the culinary delights of the huts such as Alpine cuisine, the cross-country skiing offering in the Untertal is at quality seal level. “For me, this trail is the ideal complement to the World Cup trails in Ramsau,” explains Hans Hörzer, chairman of the Styrian trail quality seal, who presented the seal of quality. “It combines sporty cross-country skiing with cross-country skiing hikes in the beautiful Rohrmoos-Untertal landscape area. It also represents an ideal additional offer for the many alpine skiers in this region.”
Great effort from the community rewarded
Hermann Trinker, Mayor of Schladming, is enthusiastic: “Our community runs the cross-country ski trail in the Untertal with great commitment. We are all the more pleased that our efforts are being recognized and that the cross-country ski trail has now been awarded the Styrian cross-country trail quality seal. There are many criteria that must be met and checked regularly in order to meet the requirements of this seal of quality. I wish our locals and many guests a wonderful cross-country skiing season.”
Highest quality for cross-country skiing
Andreas Keinprecht, Chairman of the Tourismusverband es Schladming-Dachstein, agrees and sets further goals for the region: “We are very pleased about the award for the cross-country ski trails in the Untertal, which are a real insider tip for all fans of Nordic skiing. With the cross-country ski trails in the Nordic center of Ramsau am Dachstein, we already have a great offering that has also been awarded the renowned cross-country trail quality seal. We are constantly working with great commitment to create even better conditions and thus the highest quality for cross-country skiing in the region. A big thank you goes to the community of Schladming for the very good cooperation, as well as to the cross-country skier Alexander Steiner for his tireless efforts.”
Top destination for all Nordic skiers
With 420 kilometers of cross-country ski trails, the Schladming-Dachstein holiday region offers cross-country skiers a uniquely wide range of options. Both leisure runners and top athletes will find the perfect cross-country ski trail on a total of 220 kilometers of cross-country ski trails in the Nordic center of Ramsau am Dachstein. 125 kilometers are dedicated to classic cross-country skiing and 95 kilometers to skating - freshly groomed every day. The place is also considered the “training center of the world elite”. The best athletes from all over the world take part in the annual Nordic Combined Ski World Cup year after year, and many of them have already completed numerous jumps and kilometers of cross-country ski runs in Ramsau during the season preparations.
