Badrutt’s Palace Raises More Than 3.7m Chf In Their 25th Christmas Tree Auction
For 25 years, Badrutt's Palace Hotel has been holding its esteemed annual Christmas Tree Auction to benefit local organisations in the heart of St. Moritz.The auction returned for the 2023 festive season on 21 December, raising an incredible record sum of CHF 351,900 (approx £323,796.55). The entire proceeds of the auction will be distributed to local associations St.Moritz blind ski school, child care foundation KIBE, Avegnir advice centre for actue and palliative illness, and Movimento, care for people with disabilities in Samedan.
“In 25 years, the event has brought in 3,731,900 francs, this year’s anniversary celebration alone brought in 351,900 francs,” says Richard Leuenberger, Managing Director of the Badrutt’s Palace Hotel. “My extraordinary thanks go to both the partners who have supported us at this important event for years, all renowned luxury brands, as well as to our guests who bid diligently year after year and ensure that the “Christmas Tree Auction” has become what it is: an indispensable charity event that has become an integral part of St. Moritz.”
Each year, leading luxury brands from the world of fashion, jewellery, art and gastronomy create a spectacular selection of festive firs to be sold at auction.This traditional charity evening stems from the fruit of a long-standing partnership with the prestigious Palace Gallery shops, who are committed to the event and donating generous gifts each year. Brands this year consisted of the likes of Biologique Recherche, Bucherer, Cartier, Dolce & Gabbana and many more with their unique visions and interpretations of Christmas trees on display.
The event was moderated by Swiss TV presenter, Annina Campell. The dinner was followed by the auction of the exclusive trees with the proceedings overseen by auctioneer Cêcile Verdier, President of Christie's France: “This is the third time I have been a guest at this event. And I can say: it is one of the most beautiful events that I am able to attend. Collecting money for such important causes is more important than ever, especially at Christmas,” says Cêcile.
“You feel Christmas on this evening. The months of preparation paid off again this year. We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and are already looking forward to the 26TH edition in a year. It is the year when we will simultaneously present our new Serlas Wing to the public, which we will integrate into the auction. We’ll reveal how next year,” concludes Richard Leuenberger.
