  • A total of 54 ski areas, 66 natural toboggan runs and 16 cross-country ski trail areas with a seal of quality in Tyrol

Whether ski areas, natural toboggan runs or cross-country ski trails – the seal of quality from the state of Tyrol stands for the highest quality and safety of winter sports facilities. “Tyrol has established itself internationally as a top winter destination. The constantly increasing number of systems that are awarded the seal of quality shows the constant development in this area. This means that the Tyroleans and the numerous guests from all over the world will once again be guaranteed high-quality and safe snow fun,” says LHStv sports speaker Georg Dornauer, emphasizing the importance of winter sports for Tyrol.

Top winter destination

There are currently a total of 66 natural toboggan runs, 54 ski areas and 16 cross-country skiing regions in Tyrol that meet the criteria for the Tyrolean quality seal. Only recently, two more ski areas across Tyrol (Glungezer Tulfes ski area and See ski area) and four natural toboggan runs (Gampen natural toboggan run to Rodelalm, Rodelalm - St. Anton natural toboggan run, Kühtai natural toboggan run and Diasbahn mountain station natural toboggan run) were newly awarded, as well as the seal of quality for 20 ski areas and six cross-country ski trail areas and ten natural toboggan runs extended.

Guarantee for the best possible framework conditions

As a guarantee of quality and safety, the state of Tyrol has been awarding the Tyrolean seal of quality to ski slopes since 1977, cross-country ski trails since 1981 and natural toboggan runs since 2008 - provided they meet the strict requirements. Possible candidates for a seal of quality are examined by experts from the state. Among other things, safety precautions in dangerous areas, regular preparation and maintenance as well as uniform signage are basic requirements for an award. The level of difficulty of the slopes, cross-country ski trails and toboggan runs is also evaluated. A slope rescue service must also be available in ski areas.

Appeal to personal responsibility

“By awarding ski areas, toboggan runs and cross-country ski trails, we as the state of Tyrol, together with the system operators, do everything we can to create optimal conditions. Nevertheless, it is important to me to point out the personal responsibility of each individual and mutual consideration so that nothing stands in the way of an accident-free winter sports day,” emphasizes sports officer LHStv Dornauer.
