Mirror Lake Inn Resort & Spa's View Restaurant Earns Wine Spectator 2023 Award, 23rd Straight Year

For the 23rd consecutive year, The View Restaurant at the Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa has been honored for its wine program in Wine Spectator’s 2023 Restaurant Wine List Awards.

The restaurant in Upstate New York received the Best of Award of Excellence, Wine Spectator’s second of three levels of distinction. The View Restaurant is recognized among other winners from all over the globe as a top destination for wine lovers.

This Lake Placid restaurant, the only AAA Four Diamond dining establishment in the region, boasts an inventory of nearly 500 global selections, with an estimated value of $225,000.

“In a time of technological innovation, restaurants offer the human experience diners are hungry for—listening to their customers and offering personalized experience,” said Marvin R. Shanken, Editor and Publisher, Wine Spectator. “This annual issue celebrates the places where wine is at the top of that conversation. I’m pleased to congratulate all 3,505 restaurants for their dedication to wine and wine-loving diners.”

Wine Spectator began its program to recognize the world’s best wine lists in 1981. There are three levels: the Award of Excellence, the Best of Award of Excellence and the Grand Award—with 2,001; 1,411; and 93 winners this year in each respective category.

The View Restaurant, AAA Four Diamond rated the past 16 years, was cited for offering a wine list with significant vintage depth, and displaying excellent breadth across multiple winegrowing regions and/or significant vertical depth of top producers, along with superior presentation.

“We are very happy to receive this notice once again, and thank Wine Spectator for this distinction,” said Executive Chef Curtiss Hemm, The View Restaurant’s food and beverage director. “We not only have a wide selection of wines to pair with our upscale Four Diamond menu, but the staff have the knowledge to assist our guests achieve an extraordinary dining experience.”

Coupled with the hotel, this is the village’s lone combination of Four Diamond lodging and dining. In addition, it continues to hold the number one ranking on Tripadvisor as Lake Placid’s top hotel/restaurant combination.
