Marmot Basin's New Knob Quad To be Ready For 23/24
The New Knob Quad Chair is under construction now in preparation for the 23/24 season! It's time to start thinking about getting those skis tuned, your board waxed and your season pass locked and loaded, it's going to be a winter for the history books!
The new chair will be a fixed-grip quad chair with conveyor loading, taking you to an unload elevation of 2,518 metres (8,261 feet). Access to The Cirque, the newest opened expert terrain will be easier, as will access to the peak.
The load terminal will be at an elevation of 2,125 metres, with an inclined length of 1,087 metres. Moving at a speed of 2.3 metres per second and carrying 1200 people per hour, load to unload will take under eight minutes. The Knob Quad is a game changer for the upper mountain at Ski Marmot Basin.
The Knob Quad has been on the cards since 2008. There is a colossal amount of planning that goes into building in a national park, and they've adhered diligently to all environmental studies and mitigations as provided by Parks Canada. Studies include, but are not limited to;
- Caribou Study
- Goat Study
- Rare Plant Study
- Roosting Bat Survey
- Migratory Bird Survey
Marmot continues to protect and manage the natural lands and wildlife found on their leasehold. The Knob Quad will open as soon as the snow allows in the 2023/2024 season,
