The Grift, Kat Wright, & DJ Logic Headline Sugarbush’s 2nd Annual Spring Fling
Following last year’s successful and first ever Spring Fling event at Sugarbush, the resort is bringing back the courtyard concert on Saturday, April 8th. The music kicks off at 1:00 PM and includes local favorite The Grift, followed by well-known Vermont artist Kat Wright, and ending with returning guest from last year, DJ LOGIC. In what will likely be the event of the season, the concert is completely free and open to the public. Multiple dining venues will be open and available throughout the day.
Additionally, the always highly anticipated Pond Skimming event will kick off the celebration earlier in the morning.
One of, if not the oldest pond skimming event in the country, the crowd favorite event kicks off at 10:00 AM. Skiers and riders gear up to skim across a 120 ft. pond at the base of Lincoln Peak. Event participation is sold out, but spectating is encouraged and can be just as fun. The entire event will be judged based on 3 categories: Overall Style, Biggest Splash & Best Costume. At 3:30 PM prizes will be awarded for the top 3 highest scoring participants, so go big or go home.
Rain or shine, Spring Fling will be a day filled with celebration for a great winter season and welcoming of warmer months. For more information on the events, booking, or making reservations visit our Pride Weekend Event Page: https://www.sugarbush.com/things-to-do/events-calendar/spring-fling
Spring Fling 2023 Artists:
- The Grift is a popular club, wedding, and event-band based in the Champlain Valley of Vermont. Their sound defies easy categorization, blending booty-shaking grooves and improvisation with radio-friendly hooks, witty lyrics, and tight vocal harmonies. Grift shows are energetic and original, with band members swapping instruments and occasionally playing two at a time. Their deep catalog of original music blends roots-rock and pop and jam. The Grift was formed by two Middlebury College grads Clint Bierman and Jeff Vallone in 1999, and since then has performed 2,300+ shows in 25 states and four countries. The current lineup of The Grift have been together for almost 20 years with Peter joining in 2003.
- Kat Wright, whose voice is both sultry and dynamic, delicate yet powerful; gritty but highly emotive and nuanced, has been described as “a young Bonnie Raitt meets Amy Winehouse”. Add to that voice enough stage presence to tame lions, and the combination of feline femininity proves immediately enchanting. There’s soul flowing in and out of her rock ‘n’ roll with a serpentine seduction. Some of soul music’s sweet, grand dames belt, shout, seethe, and succumb, while Wright sings gently like a heartache’s apology. It’s funky in spots and beautiful all over. And it hurts a little… like it should.
- DJ LOGIC and his role as an electronic-music ambassador keeps him at the top of his game. Whether the scratch artist instructs tablas to flirt with drum ‘n’ bass (such as on his NINA SIMONE and BILLY HOLIDAY remixes found on Sony Legacy’s Remixed and Reimagined volumes) , or while meshing free styling MC’s with Afro-Cuban rhythms (such as on ‘Share Worldwide Funk’ – a remix produced for JACK DeJOHNETTE and Golden Beams Collected, Volume 1 ) , LOGIC can always be found paying homage to his predecessors while contributing his vision to the deejay genre. While the context of his work may vary, DJ LOGIC’S spinning skills are definitely beyond reproach. He works with a phenomenal roster of invited guests, and he knows how to pick his collaborators as well as his samples. With a growing catalogue of recordings under his belt, DJ LOGIC’S supreme musicianship and catholic tastes will allow him to journey wherever an infectious groove may take him.
