PillerseeTal Focus Of The Trail Running Elite - KAT100 Part Of UTMB World Series For First Time
From August 3rd to 5th, 2023, the KAT100 by UTMB will again send its participants across and across the Kitzbühel Alps - with great international appeal, because for the first time Austria's longest ultra trail is part of the UTMB World Series and thus in the highest international series arrived. In addition to the world's best ultra runners, amateurs, beginners and the very youngest trail runners can also put their skills to the test.
At sunset over rocky passages, at dusk over flowing valley trails, on grassy high-altitude paths through the darkness and at sunrise set your sights on the next mountain peak: the KAT100 by UTMB ® presents itself in 2023 as versatile as the Kitzbüheler Alpen, in which it takes place. For the fourth time, Austria's longest ultra trail will be held in the PillerseeTal - this year, however, the organizers have managed to advance into the premier class. In 2023, the event will be part of the UTMB World Series and thus a hotspot for the international trail running community, TVB-PillerseeTal Managing Director Armin Kuen is delighted: "Since we have the KAT 100, it has of course been our wish and goal to also get into the Champions League of trail running events," says Kuen: "Trail running is still a rapidly growing sport with international appeal, so the KAT 100 by UTMB is a great opportunity for us to present the PillerseeTal to an international, sports-loving audience in summer too. "
Starting in the heart of the PillerseeTal, in Fieberbrunn, the world's best ultra runners are 170.7 kilometers and 9,820 meters in altitude across the Kitzbühel Alps and over some of the most demanding but also most impressive peaks to their personal limits - and beyond . The distance can also be run in teams of two or four as part of the Ekiden Trail.
From beginners to professionals: Trail distances for everyone with the KAT100 by UTMB ®
However, interested runners should not be put off by the impressive number in the event name. In addition to the flagship KAT100 Miles, the organizers in PillerseeTal also have the right challenge with longer distances for night owls, amateurs, trail running beginners and children. The KAT100 Endurance Trail, for example, is 92 kilometers long, starting in Fieberbrunn and ending in Kitzbühel, on which athletes can experience their nocturnal trail running adventure. The KAT100 Marathon Trail (48 kilometers) and the KAT100 Speed Trail (24.2 kilometers) are no less challenging. All beginners can be part of the exceptional format with the KAT100 Easy Trail over eight kilometers. Children who are enthusiastic about running start at different distances as part of the Kids Trail. In the start and finish area in Fieberbrunn, the entire trail running package will once again be put together over the three days of the KAT100. In addition to a comprehensive gastronomic offer, an expo area with exciting exhibitors awaits the participants and spectators.
