Otztal Tourismus: Gondola Art As A Visible Sign Of Inclusion
Since 2018, the VOI fesch Art Prize has been pursuing the goal of bringing the potential and skills of people with disabilities to the public. The location for the fourth edition was the Ötztal destination of Gurgl. The top 15 were recently presented. And the works of the artists from Austria and Germany endure: eleven gondolas of the Rosskarbahn in Obergurgl are provided with the motifs.
A total of 285 submissions from artists with disabilities were received at this year's VOI Fesch Art Prize. Appropriately, this was themed "Winter Glück". During the finale in the Gurgl CARAT, the top 15 artists were announced. First place went to Jessica Gamsjäger from Lower Austria. Her work is entitled "Through the pink ski goggles ". Upper Austria's Andreas Krötzl followed with "Skipiste" and Sabine Tollkühn-Klein from North Rhine-Westphalia, who showed her "Winter Dream" in Gurgl.
attention to inclusion
The VOI fesch art prize in Gurgl will not only be remembered by the artists. “Some of the cable car cabins have large areas of the artwork pasted over them. This ensures that the topic is permanently present with us and accessible to a wide audience who can deal with it," emphasizes Dominic Kuen, Gurgl Destination Manager at Ötztal Tourismus. Werner Hanselitsch, Managing Director of the Obergurgl lift company, sees it similarly: "Inclusion can be ours Make society more colourful, which VOI fesch impressively demonstrates. It is important to me to show how much creativity and craftsmanship there is in the individual works."
Real one-offs
With their designs, the participants managed to both promote the topic of inclusion and to make the Rosskarbahn unique. The works of art can be seen on eleven gondolas. From "Colorful mandalas with a difference" to "Winterglück-Gondolaglück" to "Schneeflocken": People with disabilities present their art at the highest level and thus receive the desired recognition.
