OITAF Seminar - Interalpin: "Get The Most Out Of Your Ropes"
On the occasion of the international trade fair INTERALPIN taking place again in Innsbruck, the OITAF is again organizing a technical seminar on the morning of April 20, 2023. The Study Committee No. II "Ropes" took over the design this year and selected the following topic:
"Get the most out of your ropes"
In the past few decades, passenger ropeways have experienced an enormous increase in performance: modern means of transport with high travel speeds and long operating times have developed from excursion trains. The hoisting ropes of the railways and their spliced connections must follow this development, which requires a high level of knowledge on the part of the technical staff about the service life of the ropes, wear-promoting influences, correct testing and the planning of maintenance measures. The recently newly published OITAF recommendations on visual and magnetic rope inspection have already established the current state of the art for these monitoring measures. With a new document on the mathematical estimation of the rope service life and possible improvement measures, the rope working group has come full circle, how to learn from the test data, how to use wire ropes sustainably and how to plan measures in good time. Speakers from the rope and ropeway industry from Germany, France, Austria and Switzerland share their knowledge and give the opportunity to answer technical questions about the use of wire ropes in modern mountain railways. The following topics will be dealt with in the seminar:
- Operational lifetime influences on round strand ropes
- Examples of rope service life estimation using the Feyrer method
- Lifespan prediction with MRI in practice
- Advances in MRI technology and analysis
- Methods to improve rope life
- focus splice
The translation takes place in the four languages German, Italian, English and French.
This seminar will be held between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., leaving the afternoon free for further visits to the trade fair.
