2022/23 Ice Hockey Season Will Start Again At Sportpark Kitzbuhel With Red Bull Salute Invitational
The 2022/23 ice hockey season will once again be celebrated with the Red Bulls Salute from 13.-14. August in Kitzbühel. The international invitational tournament with the hosts EC Red Bull Salzburg and Red Bull Munich is completed with the top teams EV Zug from Switzerland and Mountfield HK from the Czech Republic and promises ice hockey fans two exciting tournament days for the fourth time in a row in the Sportpark Kitzbühel.
For the fourth time in a row, the two tournament days in the most legendary sports town in the Alps open as an international invitation tournament and set a real highlight just before the start of the season. The field of players promises exciting games with a top cast and guarantees not only the fans the experience of great joy - in addition to two champions, a runner-up and a regular season winner are represented. The hosts EC Red Bull Salzburg and Red Bull Munich meet the EV Zug team from Switzerland and Mountfield HK from the Czech Republic.
The first semi-final game kicks off on Saturday, August 13 at 5:00 p.m. with the duel between Mountfield and Red Bull Munich. The traditional Swiss club successfully defended its championship title last season and thus recorded its third championship win. With Red Bull Munich they meet one of the most successful German ice hockey teams, which won the German ice hockey league PENNY DEL three times in a row from 2016 to 2018. The tournament starts on Saturday, August 13th at 5 p.m. with the duel between Munich and Mountfield. At 8:30 p.m. in the second semi-final, two current champions, Salzburg and Zug, meet. The winners of the two semi-finals then meet in the final on Sunday, August 14 at 7 p.m., before which the game for third place takes place at 3 p.m.
The "Red Bulls Salute" was held between 2005 and 2013 as an international invitation tournament for top European teams. From 2010 it served as the final tournament of the European Trophy, which was last held in Berlin in 2013. Then it went over to the newly founded Champions Hockey League.
In the summer of 2017, the tournament format returned and stopped off in Garmisch-Partenkirchen for the first time (2017 and 2018). In 2019, the traditional tournament took place for the first time in Austria - in Kitzbühel - where it will be held for the fourth time this year and will once again offer fans international top ice hockey on two tournament days.
- EV Zug is a traditional Swiss club that was founded in 1967 and last season won the National League championship for the third time. At the same time, the club successfully defended the title from the previous year and turned a 0:3 deficit against the ZSC Lions into a 4:3 victory in the best-of-seven final series. The respective winners will meet in the final on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. and fight for the trophy in front of enthusiastic spectators. Before that, at 3:00 p.m., the exchange of blows for third place will take place.
