Hinterstoder: New Hossbahn - 10 Seater Gondola Lift
In Hinterstoder, a new 10-seater gondola lift is being built on the Höss. With this ambitious project, which will be completed by Christmas, a modern lift with a high transport capacity will be available to all guests of the popular ski area from now on. The supports for the new Hössbahn are currently being erected in Hinterstoder.
"We will break new ground with the new cable car," says Helmut Holzinger, CEO of Hinterstoder-Wurzeralm Bergbahnen AG. “Waiting times for guests are reduced and convenience is increased. In addition, the way to the entrance is significantly shortened, because the cable car starts directly at the large parking lot in Hinterstoder."
Less waiting time, more convenience
In practice, the new transport capacity corresponds to a 50% increase in capacity compared to the current system and will thus lead to a significant reduction in waiting times for guests. Also new is that the ski holders are on the inside, which means significantly more comfort when boarding. With a route length of 2,606 meters, a difference in altitude of 811 meters is overcome in a time of 6.5 minutes. The new cable car is an important step in order to meet the new requirements and to ensure that Hinterstoder remains attractive to tourists for decades to come. Completion is planned for the end of the year, in time for the Christmas holidays.
Cable pull takes place in October
"19 supports are planned for the new cable car, which are currently being erected parallel to the course of the old cable car," says Peter Hager, technical director of Hinterstoder-Wurzeralm Bergbahnen AG. The supports are up to 26 meters high. At the same time, the foundations of the new mountain and valley station were just completed. The next important step after erecting the supports is the completion of the mountain and valley station so that the cable can be pulled in October. The old railway will remain active until the new Hössbahn is operational.
