France Blasts Award Of 2029 Asian Winter Games To Saudi Arabia

Having already attracted the ire of the IOC, the great and the good of French snowsports have blasted the award of the  2029 Asian Winter Games io Saudi Arabia

In a oint statement between the National Association of Mayors of Mountain Resorts , Ski Areas of France , the French Ski School and the French Ski Federation said:

Athletes, elected officials and mountain tourism operators, we learned with amazement of the project to organize the Asian Winter Games 2029 in Saudi Arabia, in a place naturally poor in rainfall and water, where there is currently no day neither resort nor ski slope. We can only denounce this aberrant project and totally contrary to what is desirable for the planet. In any event, this is not the path we are charting for French resorts and for French skiing.

Our collective ability to respect the Paris agreements (stabilization of GHG emissions in 2050) but also to sustainably manage resources and biodiversity will determine the world we will bequeath to our descendants. Only then will future generations still be able to live happily on our planet and learn to ski.
