The Swiss ski resort of Crans-Montana is preparing for its new season and has a number of new openings and events scheduled in the lead up and through the winter.
Family Destination Label awarded
Crans-Montana has been awarded the Family Destination label again for 2022-2024. Crans-Montana has met the many requirements of the Swiss Tourism Federation for the ‘Family Destination’ label, which distinguishes holiday destinations with offers specifically geared to the needs of families. www.crans-montana.ch/en/kids
New Funicular replacement
A fast and convenient public transport link between the valley and the mountains is one of Crans-Montana's main assets. Built in 1911 and renovated for the first time in 1997, Europe's longest funicular railway was given a brand-new look this summer.
When it reopens on 11 December 2022, the funicular will offer increased frequency, with trips every 20 minutes until the evening, a reduction in noise levels, more stable carriages, compliance with regulations for people with reduced mobility and zero carbon emission. So access to Crans-Montana by public transport will be greatly facilitated, since connections with the train services will be assured in both directions, and the journey time between Sierre and Montana will remain under 15 minutes

Bella Lui Family Festival, December 12, 2022 to January 8, 2023
The season starts with Crans-Montana’s popular festival for kids and adults alike. Based on the story of the Bella Lui star, the festival includes a large food area with a Ferris wheel and a lantern path through the forest, with incredible light projections onto the trees. www.etoilebellalui.ch/en
City Ski Championships, February 3-6, 2023

Women’s Alpine Skiing World Cup, February 18-19, 2023
