Chalets1066 Launches New Chalets And Finds New Trend Of Flexible Accommodation Helps Growth
Chalets1066 will be exhibiting at The National Snow Show (NEC, Birmingham) on October 15 and 16, but they are already finding themselves significantly busier for this winter than during the pre-Covid period.
Pioneers of flexible chalet accommodation that is now rapidly becoming a trend, Chalets1066 prices for like-for-like catered chalet weeks are proving to be coming out cheaper. There's some key reasons for this, including how the French tax system works on services.
- Chalets1066 had its best summer ever in 2022 with full occupancy through the peak summer weeks
- Current bookings for winter 2022-23 are up 30% on pre-Covid years
- New trend for flexible chalet holidays, pioneered by Chalets1066, is becoming the ‘norm’ as customers secure large savings with a premium product
- Several new chalets launched for winter 2022-23
- Chalets1066, the largest independent chalet operator in the ski resort of Les Gets, has seen demand increase through 2022 and is expanding its portfolio of chalet accommodation beyond 40 properties for the winter season.
Several new chalets are being launched in key positions across the resort that’s located one hour’s drive from Geneva Airport and linked to one of the World’s largest skiing areas, the Portes du Soleil, with 600 km’s of marked runs.
Chalets are sold on an accommodation only basis with extra services such as private chefs or food delivery, built on top. Because of the way French employment law and taxes work, a fully catered chalet for one week costs less than when it was staffed by an in-house team. Chalets1066 was one of the early adopters of this model, which is now becoming a trend due to a combination of factors including existing employment law and the increased challenges of British staff working in the EU following Brexit.
Managing Director of Chalets1066, Mark Nathan, said: “As some of the large tour operators have continued to drop their catered chalets, we have seen the demand for our holidays grow. This is because the market wants chalet holidays, but they also want good service and good food and wine. We can provide that at a better price than before, and easily prove it. Les Gets continues to be one of the most popular resorts for British skiers due to many factors including its proximity to Geneva Airport, great snow record, large skiing area and the authentic village packed full of bars and restaurants that we have here. We are also launching a number of new chalets for this winter as demand continues to grow”.
