37th KTO – Kaunertal Opening Powered By Monster Energy! New "KTO Format" On 2 Weekends In Autumn!
The Kaunertal Glacier, i.e. the Snowpark Kaunertal, is once again taking a sustainable path and is adapting its opening concept to the well-known climate situation. The event will take place over 2 weekends this year. The starting shot will be fired in mid-October with a fat "Jib'n'Playground Edition".
About a month later, in mid-November, the “1. Kaunertal Testival Open & the Snowpark Days” part two of the opening. In the usual KTO manner, both weekends offer a great program with lots of "Cash4Tricks" and cool side events. So this time it means – save both dates!

Under the motto "Enjoy the mountain with responsibility", the organizers are continuing their flexible, authentic and sustainable concept for the renowned Kaunertal Opening. For a long time now, the Kaunertal Glacier has been pursuing an economic path based on the careful use of natural resources. For many years, the Snowpark Kaunertal has been built on glacier-free ground from natural snow and old snow reserves. The careful handling of nature is the focus. Last winter's precipitation was far from comparable to that of previous years, which is why the opening concept is being adjusted. The snow park will be built as soon as the snow conditions allow. However, the season should traditionally start with the beloved snowboard and freeski scene in mid-October and a jib event deluxe. In November, part two of the series of events will follow with the 1st Kaunertal Testival Open & the Snowpark Days. This customized solution is extremely popular with industry and all stakeholders, and both events are definitely worth a trip to the Kaunertal.
Jib´n´Playground Edition Extended – October 15 & 16, 2022
With the "Jib'n'Playground Edition Event" the snow park invites you this year with an "extended" version of the well-known Jib'n'Playground around the terrace of the glacier restaurant. As the name suggests, the setup will be expanded this year and provided with several hike rail options, from session areas to public lines. On top of that, all snowskate fans will get their money's worth with their own snowskate parcours. Decks are of course also available to borrow. If you bring your own, you are safe! Bringing your skateboard also makes sense. A new small but very nice skate ramp will be built for the opening. The sessions will once again pour out "cash against tricks" in the usual manner. Among other things, 1,000 euros will be awarded at the "Sane Crew Opening Session presented by Soundboks" on Saturday. At the “Völkl Goodies & Cash for Tricks Session powered by Prime Skiing”, in addition to rich non-cash prizes from Völkl, 500 euros in cash will go to the riders. In our own snowskate parcours you can shred all day long. At the "Best Trick Snowskate Session incl. Dj Sundowner" Saturday will end with phat beats until the sun disappears behind the Weisseespitze.
The "best trick" continues on Sunday. At the "Downdays "500 Bucks" best trick session, a whopping 500 euros will be paid out to the best trick. Has never happened before! Another highlight on Sunday is the "Girls only" Cash 4 Trick Session by Shred Unit . The level at the Girls Session was already enormous last year and it will be interesting to see how the session develops again this year. At the "Get your last cash mixed sesh" powered by Templetoneveryone can take part and collect the last pocket money for the journey home. All sessions are of course open to everyone. And if "Frau Holle" allows it, the Snowpark Kaunertal will of course be opened this weekend in addition to these many shred options. After the last snowfall in the mountains, the signs are looking good. There will also be a park - hell yeah!
1st Kaunertal Testival Open & Snowpark Days – November 19th & 20th, 2022
That's the title for part 2 of this year's opening series and behind it is the highlight event of the Kaunertal "Fallruns" with an enormous range of programs for everyone. The testival area right at the entrance to the lift has always been unparalleled and will offer over 40 of the hottest brands in the snowboard and ski scene on the event weekend. Simply come to the accreditation with your ID and try out the dream setup of the season. As a special promotion, the unique "Win your favorite Test Kit" competition will be raffled off among all "test participants". That means you can actually win your personal test winner as an early Christmas present. Simply cool.
Open sessions will be held in the park on both days and, in addition to DJs at the Testival, there will also be cool side events this weekend such as yoga sessions on the mountain, pump track course, skate ramp, balance board park and much more. So that you have even more reasons to book the whole weekend, the Movie Premiere Night will be repeated in the valley on Saturday evening with the hottest movie premieres of the year. In addition to international films, the premiere of the "Gaptastic Voyage - Kaunertal Roadgap by Downdays" clip will also take place. Certainly a "must see" of this year. And yes, the signs are good that there will be an adequate party again. Hell yeah!
The certainly perfect conditions at the end of November invite you to test and/or simply go “shredding” for a weekend. So make a note of this date as well.
The thoroughly plausible and authentic event concept change is to be welcomed and both event weekends offer an enormously strong program offer. We as a medium will definitely be there.
