The temperatures are dropping, but in the coming weeks it will be "hellishly" hot in the Styrian holiday region of Schladming-Dachstein. Every year, the traditional "Krampus Runs" provide a lot of thrills and heart pounding for young and old. This year the Krampus Run in Schladming starts this year (November 26th), a week later (December 3rd) the creatures from hell put on a breathtaking show at the Krampus Run in Gröbming and at the Öblarner Krampus Game with their valuable hand-carved masks, tailor-made suits, horns and bells

After the start in the Planai Stadium, where the first staging of the groups takes place, it continues along Coburgstraße, past the town hall, where the spectators can expect a second staging, until finally the final presentation of the groups takes place on the main square. Each production has its own moderator who introduces the individual groups.

When the traditional Krampus game is performed at the market square in Öblarn every year at the beginning of December, all children can watch with a clear conscience. The rod is not used, because this primeval spectacle is supposed to put old customs in the foreground for attacking. "Schab", "Graßdeufel" and "Flechtenmann" ensure a scary-beautiful Krampus atmosphere for all families and the "Summer-Winter Game" is also performed. With its original texts from the 18th century, it is one of the last folk dramas of its kind in Styria and was awarded UNESCO cultural heritage status in 2014.

With 39 guest groups and around 400 participants from all over Austria, this Krampusevent is one of the largest in the Styrian district of Liezen. This event is a traditional event in the classic style, in which the participating actors march in the form of a "parade" along the main street of Gröbming. Countless hours of work have gone into the elaborate equipment of the groups. The vision of the organizers is to maintain the traditional Krampus customs and to accompany the people in the region through an Advent season shaped by customs.
