Northstar, Heavenly & Kirkwood Open Early For The 2022/23 Winter Season, Park City Mountain To Open On November 16
Three of the Lake Tahoe Region’s premier resorts, Northstar California, Heavenly Mountain Resort, and Kirkwood Mountain Resort kicked off the 2022-2023 winter season earlier than initially planned on Saturday, November 12. Mother Nature delivered an earlier-than-expected mix of cold weather and snow, allowing for natural accumulation and supporting our excellent snowmaking teams to get the mountains read, ultimately allowing these resorts to welcome guests ahead of schedule. Northstar and Heavenly are opening six days earlier than anticipated, and Kirkwood is opening a whopping 20 days earlier than planned.
"We are thrilled to welcome skiers and riders back to Heavenly, for the upcoming season even earlier than we anticipate,” said Tom Fortune, VP & COO of Heavenly and the Tahoe Region. “Mother Nature came through for us, allowing natural snowfall to fly and pile up while also giving us the temperatures needed for our snowmakers to do their best work. We are thankful for this incredible gift, and can’t wait to welcome our guests back for winter. Most of all, I’d like to recognize and thank the incredible resort teams for kicking things into high gear and making it possible to open early. Winter is here and we are ready!” “We are eager for another season of adventure and fun at our resorts." said Fortune
“With three drivable resorts in the Tahoe region all offering a unique experience, there will be something for everyone to enjoy,” said Fortune. “We are eager for another season of adventure and fun at our resorts.”
Park City Mountain also is thrilled to announce that it will open earlier than planned for the 2022/23 winter season on Wednesday, November 16 – the earliest the mountain has opened since 1996. Lifts and terrain will be open at both the Mountain Village and Canyons Village base areas. Park City’s mountain operations teams have been making the most of cold temperatures and the first major snowstorms of the season since October 23. Their work, combined with over 81 inches of natural snowfall from recent storms, is allowing for a highly anticipated early start to winter.
“When it comes to skiing and riding, we know every day on the mountain counts, and we are excited to welcome guests back earlier than planned for the 2022/23 winter season,” said Deirdra Walsh, Vice President and COO of Park City Mountain. “I am so grateful to the entire Park City Mountain team who has shown incredible passion, commitment and hard work leading into the season.”
Early season terrain can be accessed from following lifts, starting at 9:00 am:
- Mountain Village: Payday Express, First Time
- Canyons Village: Red Pine Gondola, Saddleback Express, and Over and Out. The Cabriolet will also be running beginning at 7:00 am daily.
Park City Mountain will continue snowmaking operations and monitor the weather to expand terrain offerings in the coming weeks.
Guests can expect a lively opening day at both Mountain Village and Canyons Village with DJs at both base areas and morning treats for early arrivers.
Parking reservations will not be required on November 16 or November 17 at the Mountain Village base area. Parking reservations will be required at the Mountain
Lift tickets will be limited every day, across every resort, during the 2022-23 season in order to preserve the guest experience at each resort.
