Another Week, Another Wildcard. Michaela Davis-Meehan Returns To The FWT
With the regularity associated with a Swiss chronometer the FWT has annouced yet another wildcard.
FWT has announced Michaela Davis-Meehan as a season wildcard in the women’s snowboard category, giving the young Australian another shot at the world title. Michaela is an incredible athlete who has already proved herself at the highest level of freeriding, with her addition to the roster evoking a slight sense of fear in all competitors.
Michaela started her professional snowboarding career in the slopestyle discipline – where she competed in the world championships – before finding her passion for freeriding in the big mountains. She started competing in FWT Qualifier events in 2016, enjoying multiple podium finishes until a stellar 2019 season propelled her into the big league. Straight away, Michaela let the world know she belonged on the FWT, winning in Ordino Arcalís, and finishing second in Hakuba and Fieberbrunn in 2020 – her rookie year. This placed her second overall behind the legendary Marion Haerty, and made her a hot favorite for the following year. Unfortunately, she couldn’t carry this form into 2021 and dropped off the Tour, but a solid season back on the FWT Qualifiers – including a first place at Kirkwood IFSA 4* FWQ Final – has earned her inclusion in the 2023 roster.
All eyes will be on Michaela to see if she can find another gear and do one better than her epic 2020 season. This won’t be an easy task, as this year’s roster is packed with explosive talent, all vying for that number one position.
“This is such an awesome surprise! I’m super stoked to give the Tour another crack, and I can’t wait to get sendy and see what I can bring to the FWT this time around.” said Michaela Davis-Meehan,
