Norway Names Alpine Teams For 22-23
The Norwegian alpine skiers have put one of their best seasons ever behind them. Aleksander Aamodt Kilde won the super-G and downhill cup, while Henrik Kristoffersen secured the crystal ball in downhill skiing. Jesper Saltvik Pedersen won the World Cup overall for the fifth year in a row, and delivered 10 championship medals in the World Cup and Olympics, of which seven were gold. Ragnhild Mowinckel has ended the season with her first World Cup victory in the World Cup final in the comeback after the injury. Her very strong season gave her fourth place in the overall World Cup ranking.
"With this selection, we have wanted to facilitate in order to be able to take care of an offer through the team structure so that we can have strong teams that can deliver results at the highest level for both sexes and in all disciplines. It is a clear goal to deliver in the international arena. This year there is an increase in the number of athletes especially on the C-teams, and we have very many good younger athletes in Norwegian alpine sports so it is important that we can follow up more after several years with a reduction in the number of athletes, especially during the covid period", said sports manager Claus Johan Ryste.
At the European Cup, they continue the practice of giving those who deliver on FIS races the opportunity to try their hand at European Cup races. If you deliver at the top of the European Cup race, you will be able to qualify for the World Cup race.
For the winter, the World Championships in French Courchevel / Méribel is a natural highlight, while the World Cup calendar, which has not yet been finalised, predicts an increase in the number of races and opportunities.
The speed project, which was started last year as a program, continues as before, and has a four-year perspective for facilitating qualitative training and schooling of speed culture in collaboration with the Olympic Summit.
